This card said more than any five-star review ever could.

Success isn't always measured in numbers.

Sometimes it's written in someone else's handwriting.

There was a time when becoming a parent happened within a village.

Meals appeared without asking. Someone folded the washing. A friend sat on the couch and listened without trying to fix anything. People didn't just come to meet the baby, they came to care for the people raising them.

Somewhere along the way, we've become really good at celebrating the arrival of a new baby.

But not always as good at supporting the parents.

This is a gentle reminder that while newborn cuddles are beautiful, sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is making life feel just a little lighter.

If you know someone who has recently welcomed a baby, ask yourself this.

How can I hold them today?

Maybe it's dropping off dinner.
Maybe it's hanging out a load of washing.
Maybe it's sitting beside them and reminding them they don't have to have it all together.

The little things are rarely little in those early weeks.

What was the kindest thing someone did for you after your baby arrived, or what do you wish someone had done?

One of my favourite moments as a postpartum professional?

When a mum looks up at me and says...

"That didn't hurt."

Makes me want to do a little dance!

Not all postpartum support looks the same.

Sometimes it's someone holding the baby while you shower.

Sometimes it's a friend dropping in for a cup of tea.

And sometimes it's opening the fridge after a long day and knowing a nourishing meal is already waiting for you.

This vegetarian lasagne was made in my client's home, ready to fill the freezer with meals that would nourish her and her family in the weeks ahead.

Because when you're recovering from birth and finding your feet as a parent, even deciding what to cook can feel like too much.

I believe postpartum care is about more than the baby.

It's about making sure parents feel cared for, nourished and supported too.

If you're expecting, or you know someone preparing for life with a new baby, a freezer full of home-cooked meals might be one of the most practical gifts you can give.

If you'd like to chat about in-home postpartum meal preparation, send me a DM. I'd love to help make those first weeks feel just a little lighter.

Before the baby arrived, he was the doctor.

The one people turned to when something was wrong.

The one with the answers.

Then suddenly, he was a dad.

Standing in the middle of the night with a healthy baby who just wouldn't settle, wondering if he was missing something.

"I was besotted, in love and terrified. As a doctor, I only see babies when things go wrong. I didn't know what to do with a healthy unsettled baby."

That stopped me in my tracks.

Because if someone who's spent years caring for babies can feel that uncertain, imagine how every new parent feels.

We expect ourselves to instinctively know what our baby needs.

We think everyone else has it figured out.

But the truth is, a healthy baby can still cry for hours. They can fight sleep. They can leave you questioning everything you're doing.

It doesn't mean you're failing.

It means you're learning a language you've never spoken before.

Every parent starts there.

The strongest parents aren't the ones who know all the answers.

They're the ones who ask for support before exhaustion convinces them they're supposed to do it alone.

On Friday, we were thrilled to attend the "Nobody Told Me" event, where health professionals shared the common experiences new mums and dads wish someone had prepared them for before birth.

Because every parent deserves to enter postpartum feeling informed and supported, not left wondering, "Why didn't anybody tell me that?"

It was such a valuable morning of honest conversations about birth, postpartum and everything that comes after. From practical support (hello, Frida Peri wash Bottle!) to mental health and everything in between, the focus was on helping families feel more prepared for this life-changing season.

We're so pleased to see postpartum preparation and support finally getting the attention it deserves. The more we talk about it, the fewer parents will feel caught off guard, and that's something worth celebrating.

No one professional has all the answers. And that's exactly how it should be.

The best care happens when professionals from different disciplines come together, share knowledge and continue learning from one another.
That's why we'll be attending Nobody Told Me: Three Experts, One Honest Conversation this Friday. It's a fantastic opportunity to hear evidence-informed advice, ask questions and feel more prepared for the journey into parenthood.

Whether you're expecting, in the early postpartum period or supporting someone who is, these conversations matter.

We're passionate about building a strong village around mothers and families. Events like this remind us that the best outcomes happen when we work together.
There are only a few places remaining, so if you've been thinking about coming, now's the time to secure your spot.

If you're attending, we'd love for you to come and say hello. We always enjoy meeting local families and connecting with our community.
We hope to see you there.
