Good things happen when people get moving.

The steps taken during our 2025 Healthy Cities program by our people, their families and friends, plus our corporate and community partners are already having an impact beyond better health.

Through our partnership with Landcare Australia, that collective effort has helped bring community planting days to life across the country, with almost 15,000 native trees, shrubs and ground covers planted to help green local spaces for generations to come.

To everyone who walked, supported or rolled up their sleeves to plant, thank you.

Paying up to 1.5% extra in the Medicare Levy Surcharge?

You might be able to reduce the MLS with the right level of private hospital cover for the days that you’re covered.

In some cases, basic cover could cost less than the surcharge itself.

Chronic health conditions continue to concern Aussies, motivating many to take preventative health steps.

Our latest Bupa Pulse Check shows heart health remains a leading concern, alongside cancer and back pain.

Encouragingly, many Australians are taking positive steps to stay on top of their heart health, including walking regularly, exercising, setting goals and using wearables to track their progress.

Bupa GP Dr Janice Tan said: “Prevention doesn’t have to be complicated. The best tip I give patients is to keep it simple like staying active, building routines and don’t ignore early signs or risks.”

Want to see what else is shaping the health of Australians in 2026?

With a dangerous flu season expected, Bupa Foundation nurses are providing free flu vaccinations to The Big Issue vendors, helping ensure preventive healthcare remains accessible.

The The Big Issue Australia does incredible work, creating pathways out of hardship and we’re proud to support vendors in a small but practical way that helps them keep showing up for their communities.

The Big Issue CEO Steven Persson said: “As we celebrate our 30th anniversary in June this year, we’re grateful for the ongoing partnerships and initiatives like this from Bupa, which have supported vendors’ health and wellbeing for many years.”

Along with booking in your own flu vaccination, if you see a vendor this winter, grab a copy and show some support.

Reconciliation is about listening, learning and backing First Nations communities in ways that create real impact.

Today, we launched our third Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), building on the work already underway across Bupa to help improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Over the past three years, we’ve fostered partnerships with First Nations-led organisations, increased support of First Nations businesses and expanded cultural learning across our teams. But we know there’s still more work to do.

This next RAP places a stronger focus on community-led healthcare, advocacy, employment and supporting First Nations businesses.

Because better health outcomes start with deep listening and continuing to show up with action, not just words.

Long after the final siren at the Carlton Football Club and Geelong match last night, it was a quiet moment before the game that stayed with the crowd.

Before the players took to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the ground was illuminated in orange. Each light represented a life that should still be here.

As the stadium fell silent and more than 60,000 people stood together in reflection, the scale of the impact of domestic and family violence was impossible to ignore.

This wasn’t just another Friday night blockbuster. It was Carlton’s Respect Game, a moment where football and community came together to honour the women lost to domestic and family violence.

There’s still more work to do. Nights like this matter because they help keep the conversation going, by raising awareness and encouraging action.

As Carlton’s member partner, Bupa Australia will donate more than $60,000 - $1 for every fan through the gates to go towards Carlton Respects programs in primary schools. These programs help young people understand respect, build healthy relationships and challenge harmful stereotypes from an early age.

National Reconciliation Week means taking a moment to really reflect on our history and what’s happening today, and making choices that bring our whole community together.

Paris, a Dharawal woman working in our Mindplace mental health clinic team, says there’s a deep connection between reconciliation and wellbeing.

She believes making space for First Nations voices, and creating culturally safe environments where they’re heard, can make a huge difference.

“We’re here to collaborate, be friends, and coexist in a way that benefits everyone,” she says.

At Bupa, being All In on reconciliation means listening to First Nations voices and turning that into meaningful action that helps create better health outcomes.

A little bit of Disney magic goes a long way.

At Niddrie Medical Centre, head nurse Sheree has brought her love of Disney into the clinic, with character stickers throughout the rooms to help everyone feel at ease.

“I think no matter your age, at some point you’ve watched a Disney movie or show. It just makes people feel comfortable,” she says.

A lifelong fan (with a few Disney tattoos to prove it), Sheree even made the trip to Disneyland and says it truly lives up to the hype as the happiest place on earth.

“I just wanted to help create a space that feels a little more relaxed, familiar and fun for every patient who walks through the door,” she says.

Well, this volunteering initiative with the RSPCA Australia sure got a paws-itive reaction.

With some special four-legged friends forgood company, our teams helped to create chew toys and treat-based games for dogs currently in care, helping keep them active, and a little happier while they wait for their forever homes.

Beyond the selfies with Pickles and Hades, the day was also about giving back, and shows how small acts of kindness can make a difference.

Healthy people. Healthy planet. Pretty good combo.

That was the vibe at this year’s Sustainable BNE Festival in the Bupa Healthy Cities Zone.

From free coffee in edible Good-Edi cups to yoga on the lawn, hands-on planting, and plenty of eco fun, it was a pretty great day out.

Love seeing thousands of people come together around the idea that small actions can make a big impact, because healthier people and a healthier planet go hand in hand.
