📣 DB Bench Press

Thanks for the amazing demo!

As you can see we slightly turn our arms inwards, this helps to protect the shoulders, and focus more on the actual pecs and triceps rather than loading the anterior delts.

This is a Bi- lateral movement which we can adjust into a great uni-lateral movement by simply holding both in the air, and alternating one down at a time.

A great variance from BB bench, as it creates greater range of motion and balances out using both arms more evenly.

Give this a go in your next session and let us know how you go 💪

📣 Suffering from sore/tight hips or lower back?
Give these a go either pre training (specifically leg day) or do them to start your day

✅ 90,90s: use these to rotate through your hips, its a great dynamic movement that helps to prepare you for your day or session. This helps with mobilizing your hips and some what of the lower back.

✅ Bird Dog: use this as core and glute activation as well as stability. You start on all fours, lifting and extending the opposite arm and leg, nice and slow and hold for 1-2 secs. Try to remain as still as possible, and avoid arching your back. Push your lower back upward as you switch your core on.

✅ Lock Clams: Activation of our glute medius, so that this will help glute activation, driving our knees out on squats and avoid using our lower back and overusing hamstrings.

Have a go of these, in warm up 1-2 rounds, to start your day anywhere from 2-5 sets.

📣 Things To Live By In The Gym

- Progressive Overload (Making sure each session you are increasing the stimulus on the body. This can be done with more weight, more reps, more sets at a certain weight or slight change in intensity)

- Question Pain (Muscle soreness post training is generally fine, however if your knees are aching, backs pinching or feeling sharp pains, dont keep pushing. Question it and rehab it correctly)

- Technique is key (Take your time, don't rush, don't go heavier than you can handle. Yes go heavy but keep your ego in check, you may get away with poor form for a long time, but as you go on those things start to add up)

- There is no one size fits all program (yes we can all follow a baseline program, however individuality is important. Adapting for injuries, strengths and weaknesses, including specific things such as balance, flexibility, proprioception and uni lateral movements is important and also is adaptive for each individual).

Suffering With Daily Neck/Shoulder Pain?

Try this out. All you need is a massage ball (a pretty hard one if you have access).

To start, roll it on your pecs specifically your pec minor so aiming up near your armpit.

Then against the wall, placing the ball behind your back. Make sure its between your shoulder blade and spine. From there cross your arm across your body, and basically roll around. Once you find a spot that sucks, stay on it until it decreases in discomfort.

Let us know how you go with this one!

📢First Powerlifting Comp

A huge well done to Annie, who competed in her first Powerlifting comp.

A lot of hard work, rehab for her lower back, and technique sessions went into this comp.

Annie's Numbers For The Day:
Squat = 85kg
Bench Press = 55kg
Deadlift = 95kg

Total = 235kg

An absolutely amazing effort by Annie. The definition of pocket rocket, always willing to push her self, challenge her self in sessions with her weights, and backs of when needed to recover well!
