🏆 PREMIERS! 🏆

Mordialloc Superules Football Club What a way to make history! ❤️🤍

As a proud sponsor of Mordialloc Superules FC, I couldn’t be happier or prouder to celebrate the incredible achievement of the Women’s Over 35s, who have claimed their "maiden" Division 1 premiership in just their 9th season!

Overcoming the benchmark of the competition, the Port Melbourne Colts, the girls saved their best for the biggest stage and secured a well-deserved premiership.

Led by the dynamic duo of Flick & Footey, and backed by an exceptional leadership group, this playing group maintained a perfect season in 2026, winning all 12 games on their way to the ultimate prize. What an unbelievable achievement! 🔥

But this premiership is about so much more than just the final siren.

It’s about the people, the friendships, the commitment, the sacrifices and the unwavering belief that has built this team from its inception in 2018 to where they stand today.

A heartfelt congratulations to every single person who has been involved in this journey over the years. From the original playing group, coaches, volunteers, supporters, families and everyone who has helped make this team what it is today, this premiership belongs to you all. ❤️🤍

A massive congratulations to Flick, Footey and every one of the premiership players. You have etched your names into the history of Mordialloc Superules FC, and what a story you have written!

A special thank you to the girls for dropping the cup into the clinic this afternoon. It was an absolute pleasure to share in the celebrations, and I thoroughly relished the appreciation shown for my sponsorship. Supporting this incredible group and being part of their journey is something I’m genuinely proud of.
I did get a bit teary eyed once you all left... TY!!

Here’s to the next chapter, the memories, the friendships and the celebrations that come with being PREMIERS!

Congratulations, ladies. You’ve earned every bit of this.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working closely with several clients experiencing symptoms consistent with cervical radiculopathy, and it’s a condition that can have a significant impact on everyday movement and function.

So, what is cervical radiculopathy?

Cervical radiculopathy occurs when a nerve root in the neck becomes irritated or compressed. Instead of pain being limited to the neck, symptoms can travel into the shoulder, shoulder blade, arm and even into the hand.

You may experience:
• Neck and shoulder pain
• Pain that radiates down the arm
• Pins and needles or numbness
• Muscle weakness
• Reduced movement or difficulty performing everyday activities
• Changes in strength, coordination or function

Myotherapy can be a valuable addition to an appropriate healthcare plan, particularly when muscle tension, joint restriction and altered movement are contributing to your symptoms.

At Essbee Myotherapy, treatment may incorporate techniques such as functional cupping, dry needling, soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation and corrective exercise to help reduce muscular restriction, improve movement and support your rehabilitation goals.

Importantly, treatment is tailored to the individual. Where symptoms suggest significant nerve involvement, appropriate medical assessment and referral may also be required.

If neck, shoulder or arm pain is affecting your strength, movement, sleep, work, training or quality of life, don’t ignore it.

🧠 Let’s talk Chronic Pain.
It’s more than just “lingering discomfort”, it’s real, it's exhausting, and be honest with yourself, it affects your daily life!

Here are some common chronic pain conditions I see & treat on a daily basis:

🔹 Myofascial Pain Syndrome – Trigger points (muscle knots) that refer pain and restrict movement.
🔹 TMJ Dysfunction – Ongoing jaw pain, clicking, and tension in the face, neck, or head.
🔹 Fibromyalgia – Widespread body pain, fatigue, and sensitivity to touch.
🔹 Tension Headaches – Often caused by tight neck and shoulder muscles.
🔹 Arthritis – Chronic joint pain, swelling, and stiffness.
🔹 Sciatica – Nerve pain radiating down the leg from the lower back.
🔹 Chronic Neck & Back Pain – Often due to posture, injury, or muscular imbalances.

💡 Myotherapy offers targeted, hands-on treatment to manage and reduce chronic pain at its root.

⚠️Tight calves that cramp at night or during exercise?? ⚠️

This is one of the common problems we see at Essbee Myotherapy.

Calf cramps are often caused by:
• Tight overworked muscles
• Poor ankle mobility
• Muscle fatigue from sport or work
• Compensation from foot, knee or lower back issues
• Long hours standing or sitting

The problem is, most people just stretch the calves and hope for the best. But if the underlying tension and movement restrictions are not treated properly, the cramping keeps coming back.

At Essbee Myotherapy, treatment may include:
• Deep tissue massage
• Dry needling
• Trigger point therapy
• Mobility work
• Corrective exercises
• Sports recovery treatment

Whether you are a runner, tradie, gym-goer or weekend athlete, Myotherapy can help reduce calf tightness, improve movement and stop recurring cramps before they become a bigger issue 👍

If you are searching for Myotherapy in Cranbourne, Botanic Ridge, Langwarrin or surrounding areas, Essbee Myotherapy is here to help.

Book your appointment today and get on top of those stubborn calf cramps before they start affecting your sleep, training or work.

Ice vs Heat: What Actually Works? 🧊🔥

Confused about whether to use ice or heat when pain strikes? You’re not alone, and using the wrong one, can actually slow your recovery.

🧊 When to use ICE (Cold Therapy):
Best for new or acute injuries (first 24–72 hours)
✔ Swelling
✔ Inflammation
✔ Sharp pain (sprains, strains, impact injuries)
Ice helps reduce blood flow to the area, limiting swelling and calming irritation.

🔥 When to use HEAT (Heat Therapy):
Best for chronic or ongoing issues
✔ Muscle tightness
✔ Stiff joints
✔ Old injuries or persistent aches
Heat increases blood flow, helping muscles relax and improving mobility.

⚖️ The Reality?
Ice and heat are just tools, they're not solutions. They can manage symptoms, but they don’t fix the root cause.

💪 Where Myotherapy Comes In:
This is where treatment makes the difference. Myotherapy goes beyond temporary relief by:
✔ Releasing tight muscles
✔ Improving joint movement
✔ Reducing pain at the source
✔ Creating long-term recovery strategies

Think of ice and heat as first aid, and Myotherapy as the game plan to get you back performing at your best.

👉 If you're dealing with pain or unsure what your body needs?
Book in today and let’s create a clear path to recovery.
Your movement matters.

💡Why Your Neck Pain Keeps Coming Back (And What You’re Missing)

If your neck pain keeps returning no matter how much you stretch or massage it… you’re not alone.

Here’s the truth 👇
Most neck pain isn’t just about “tight muscles”, it’s about "OVERLOAD".

What's actually going on?

🔹Postural overload: Hours spent at a desk, on your phone, or driving puts constant strain through your neck and upper back.

🔹 Stress & tension: When stress builds, so does muscle guarding, especially through your upper traps and neck.

🔹 Poor load management: Gym sessions, work demands, and daily life all add up. If your body’s capacity is lower than the load you’re putting on it… pain shows up.

So why doesn’t it go away?
Because most people only treat the "symptom" (tightness), not the "cause" (overload + capacity). That's where Myotherapy comes in...

How does Myotherapy actually help this?

✔️ Releases built-up tension
✔️ Improves movement through the neck & upper back
✔️ Rebuilds strength and tolerance to load
✔️ Addresses the habits causing it in the first place

Your goal shouldn't be just about seeking relief… it’s about keeping pain away.**

If you’re stuck in the cycle of:
Pain → temporary relief → pain again... >> IT'S TIME TO BREAK IT

🕵🏼‍♂️ WHAT WE TREATED THIS WEEK

This week we worked with a client presenting with shoulder pain, has a history arthritis and displayed a significant loss of range of movement. This was all impacting their daily function.

🛑 PROBLEM:
On initial assessment, the client was unable to perform shoulder abduction past 90 degrees without the arm compensating into flexion, whilst the shoulder girdle is retracting. This is a common pattern we see when joint stiffness and surrounding muscle dysfunction limit true movement.

❓ WHAT WAS DRIVING IT:
Arthritic changes through the joint combined with muscle adhesions, scar tissue and overactive muscle groups were restricting movement and forcing compensation patterns.

👐🏼 TREATMENT APPROACH
We focused on reducing restriction and restoring movement using:

✅ Dry needling to target deep muscle tissue, helping break down adhesions and scar tissue
✅ Functional cupping applied to overactive muscle groups to promote tissue lengthening and improve mobility
✅ Targeted manual therapy to support joint and soft tissue function

RESULT:
On re-test, the client improved to 120 degrees of shoulder abduction. with significantly less compensation into flexion. Movement was smoother, stronger and far less restricted.

This is exactly why treating both the joint and surrounding soft tissue is key. It’s not just about pain relief, it’s about restoring how your body is meant to move.

If your shoulder feels stiff, weak or restricted, don’t wait for it to get worse.

Headaches starting at the base of your skull?

If you’re dealing with persistent headaches that begin in your neck and travel up toward your head, you could be experiencing cervicogenic headaches driven by neck dysfunction, posture and muscle overload.

🛑 PROBLEM:
That dull, nagging headache sitting at the base of your skull often comes from tight suboccipital muscles, stiff upper cervical joints and prolonged poor posture from desk work, driving or screen time.

❓WHY IT HAPPENS:
When your neck is under constant load, especially in forward head posture, the muscles at the base of your skull become overworked and irritated. Over time this leads to referred pain into the head, reduced mobility and recurring tension headaches.

👐🏼 HOW MYOTHERAPY HELPS:
At Essbee Myotherapy, treatment focuses on relieving tension through targeted soft tissue therapy, improving joint movement in the neck and upper back, and correcting the underlying load issues with tailored rehab strategies. This approach doesn’t just reduce your headache, it addresses the root cause.

If you’re constantly reaching for short term relief but the headaches keep coming back, it’s time to fix the source.
