When you make changes in your life, especially around your health, it’s often the people closest to you who don’t understand why. 🤯

They’ll question your choices. They’ll see your decisions through their own fears, limits, and life experiences. They might think you’re wrong, misguided, or even strange.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡: You’re not responsible for making people understand. You’re responsible for listening to your body, honoring your needs, and choosing what helps you heal.

There’s a lot of confusion around what it means when breast cancer is progesterone receptor positive (PR+). Many assume that if a tumor expresses progesterone receptors, then progesterone must be fueling its growth. But the science tells a different story.

🧬 Progesterone receptors are often upregulated by estrogen—meaning high estrogen activity leads cells to produce more PRs. So when we see PR positivity, it’s usually a sign of past estrogen exposure, not active growth driven by progesterone.
In fact, when natural progesterone binds to its receptor, it tends to slow down cell proliferation, promote differentiation, and balance out estrogen’s growth-promoting effects. PR+ tumors are typically better organized, slower growing, and more responsive to hormone therapies like tamoxifen. These traits are linked to better survival outcomes.

The confusion often stems from older studies that linked synthetic progestins—not natural progesterone—to increased breast cancer risk. Synthetic progestins can act unpredictably, sometimes mimicking estrogen and promoting cell growth. But bioidentical or naturally occurring progesterone has not been shown to drive tumor growth. In experimental models, it may even help redirect estrogen activity toward safer pathways.

✨ Bottom line: PR positivity is not a red flag—it’s a sign that the tumor is hormonally responsive and more likely to respond well to treatment. Understanding this distinction can empower better decisions and outcomes.

Had these for dinner tonight.. gluten free cauliflower gnocchi! Kids actually loved them. (I chucked them in the air-fryer.. super easy!) They had them with chicken sausages and peas. (And copious amounts of of ketchup obvs 🙄)
