Could your hypothyroidism be Hashimoto’s? 🦋

Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the thyroid, affecting its ability to produce thyroid hormones.

If you have hypothyroidism, ask your doctor about checking TPO and Tg antibodies to investigate whether an autoimmune response is involved.

A simple way to add collagen to your day 🥣

Collagen is an easy addition to breakfast and provides amino acids that support healthy skin, joints, bones and connective tissue.

Pairing it with oats and chia seeds also gives you fibre, healthy fats and protein — making this a nourishing and satisfying way to start the day.

Small additions to your daily routine can make a difference over time.

Would you add collagen to your morning porridge?

Could collagen help with constipation?

Collagen is usually talked about for skin, joints and healthy ageing, but it may also have a role in supporting digestive health.

If you’re struggling with constipation and have tried the usual approaches without success, collagen powder may be something worth exploring.

As always, constipation can have many different root causes, so it’s important to look beyond the symptom and understand why it’s happening in the first place.

Your gut is always giving you clues. 🌿

Collagen gets a lot of attention when it comes to skin, joints and healthy ageing, but there’s another nutrient worth knowing about: hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is naturally found throughout the body and plays an important role in hydration and structure, including in the skin, joints, connective tissues and brain.

While many people know it as a topical skincare ingredient, hyaluronic acid can also be taken internally in supplement form.

Supporting the body from the inside out is always worth considering. ✨

Another functional medicine tip to add to the list!

Not all collagen powders are created equally.

If you're choosing a collagen supplement, don't just look at the marketing on the front of the tub. Turn it around and read the label.

Look for collagen peptides or hydrolysed collagen, a meaningful amount of collagen per serve, minimal unnecessary ingredients and a company that is transparent about sourcing and quality testing.

And remember — collagen is a supplement, not a replacement for a nutrient-dense diet. Your overall protein intake, vitamin C, minerals and other nutrients all contribute to healthy connective tissue.

When choosing a supplement, quality matters.

What you eat between meals can have a bigger impact on your energy and cravings than you might think.

A snack that is mostly refined carbohydrates may give you a quick burst of energy, but you may find yourself hungry again soon after.

Adding a source of protein, alongside fibre and healthy fats can make your snack more satisfying and support a steadier blood sugar response.

The goal isn't to avoid carbohydrates. It's about how you combine them.

Do you snore, breathe through your mouth at night, or wake up feeling like you barely slept?

These can be easy things to brush off, but they may be clues that your breathing is being disrupted while you sleep.

Snoring and mouth breathing can have many contributors — from sleeping position and airway structure to enlarged tonsils or adenoids, medications, alcohol and certain nutritional or hormonal factors.

You might also notice a dry mouth, bad breath, frequent waking, morning fatigue or difficulty concentrating during the day.

So instead of only asking, “How do I stop snoring?”, it can be more helpful to ask:
“Why am I snoring or mouth breathing in the first place?”

Because sometimes, the symptom is simply your body telling you that something needs a closer look.

Some days, you just don’t feel like exercising.

You’re tired. You’re busy. Your motivation is nowhere to be found.

But you don’t always need motivation to move.

Start small. Go for a walk. Stretch for 10 minutes. Do a short workout. Anything is better than nothing.

You might not feel like it before you start, but you’ll almost always feel better afterwards.

Your body doesn’t need perfection. It needs consistency.

Just get moving. 🤍

Be honest — how often do you skip a workout because you simply don’t feel like it? 👀
What helps you get moving on those days?

Your body responds to the small things you do every day.

Movement. Hydration. Getting outside. Connecting with people. Taking breaks.

This is one of the ideas explored in The DOSE Effect by neuroscientist TJ Power — using simple daily habits to support the brain chemicals linked to motivation, connection, mood and stress.

And it pairs perfectly with BJ Fogg’s Tiny Habits — the idea that lasting change doesn't have to start with a huge lifestyle overhaul. Start small, make it easy, and build from there.

A good reminder that better health doesn't always require a massive lifestyle overhaul.

Sometimes, it starts with one tiny action repeated every day.

What can you do to support better insulin sensitivity?

Building muscle through resistance training, staying active, and maintaining balanced nutrition can all play a role in metabolic health.

Medications such as metformin may be appropriate for some people, while supplements such as berberine are also being studied. Always discuss medications and supplements with your healthcare professional.
