📣Research opportunity for men and gender diverse people with multiple sclerosis (MS) 📣

A PhD candidate at the Mind-Body Research in Health Lab at Deakin University is inviting men and gender diverse people aged 18 years and over with MultipleSclerosis (MS) to share their experiences of diagnosis and management within the Australian healthcare system.

Taking part involves completing a short online survey (about 10 minutes) about your demographic and health information to check your eligibility. If you’re eligible, you’ll be invited to take part in a one-hour online interview about your healthcare experiences.

Our CodeEndo intervention features 9 online self-directed supportive care modules, all co-designed with the endometriosis community. One of those modules is the Physiotherapy module, which features videos led by pelvic health physiotherapist Natalie Anderson. The videos include information about the pelvic region, exercises, and stretches.

New publication 🎉 Telehealth cognitive behavioural therapy improves health-related quality of life and pain in endometriosis: the Healing Pelvic Pain Intervention (HaPPI)—a randomized controlled trial

Our randomized controlled trial (n = 334) comparing online cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or yoga to a control group sent education materials via email is the first to test the efficacy of these interventions for improving outcomes in people living with endometriosis. It is also the first study to test an endometriosis-specific CBT protocol delivered online, showing CBT is superior to an active control in improving health-related quality of life and pain. Given that one in nine reproductive-aged women and people assigned female at birth are impacted by endometriosis, evidence based digital interventions are crucial for scalability and implementation. The results are likely to be particularly beneficial for people living in areas with limited access to specialized care.
