Tax return. That medical appointment. The hard conversation. The savings plan. All important. All sitting on the list. All somehow still not done. Meanwhile you may have been genuinely productive in other ways. Organising something that didn't urgently need it. Going deep on something that interested you. Helping someone else while your own tasks waited. This is the ADHD internal magnet at work. For many people, the brain experiences genuine difficulty with tasks that are effortful, slow, or offer no immediate reward. It's not that you don't care about the important things. You likely do deeply. But the brain isn't always following what you care about. It's following its own pull. Understanding this isn't an excuse. It's a starting point.
