Have you ever been told to “just do your Kegels”? 💜

Pelvic floor muscle training can be very important—but it is only one part of pelvic health.

An important new paper, the Pelvic Health Clinical Reasoning Model, explains why two women with the same symptom may need very different support.

Pelvic symptoms may be influenced by:

🧠 The brain and nervous system
🚻 The bladder and bowel
🌸 Pelvic floor muscles and local tissues
🩺 Menopause and other health conditions
🔄 Toileting and lifestyle habits
🚶‍♀️ Strength, balance and movement

Your symptoms are real. But the reason behind them may involve much more than one weak or tight muscle.

That is why one exercise cannot be right for every woman.

The Pelvic Floor Pathway expands beyond isolated Kegels. It helps women learn how their pelvic floor muscles work with breathing, pressure, coordination and real-life movement.

You have not failed if Kegels alone have not solved your problem. You may simply need a wider way forward. 🌿

I have created a new classroom inside the Innovative Pelvic Health Hub:

Did you know your pelvic floor muscles help support your bladder, uterus and bowel every time you cough, sneeze, laugh, lift or exercise?

I often explain this using a simple analogy:

⛵ Imagine your pelvic organs are a boat.

💧 Your pelvic floor muscles are the water supporting that boat.

When the water level is high, the boat is well supported.

When the water level drops, the boat sits lower and places more strain on the structures supporting it.

This is why learning how to correctly activate and train your pelvic floor muscles is so important throughout pregnancy, postpartum and menopause.

Strong, reactive pelvic floor muscles help support your body during everyday life.

✨ Understanding your body is the first step toward improving pelvic health.

World Continence Week 2026 💜
(15- 21 June)

“When you’ve got to go, we’ve got you.”

That is the wonderful message from Continence Health Australia this year.

For me, it is a reminder that nobody should have to navigate bladder leakage, urgency, bowel concerns, pelvic heaviness or pelvic floor symptoms alone.

So many women (and men) quietly put up with continence concerns, often believing it is just part of ageing, childbirth or life. But there is now so much evidence-based information, support and treatment available to help.

Continence is not simply about pads or managing symptoms. It is about understanding your body, learning how your pelvic floor works, building confidence, improving function and empowering yourself with knowledge.

That is why I created the Innovative Pelvic Health Hub and the Pelvic Floor Pathway — to provide a supportive place where people can learn, connect, ask questions and gain practical skills to help them better understand their pelvic health.

This World Continence Week, let’s keep talking, keep learning and keep supporting one another.

Because when you’ve got to go, you’ve got support. 💜

And nobody should suffer in silence.

Say yes to your pelvic floor.
