Supporting someone living with psychosocial disability can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging.
One of the most valuable things you can offer is consistency, patience and understanding.
Remember:
• Listen without judgement.
• Encourage independence where possible.
• Celebrate small wins.
• Look after your own wellbeing too.
No one should have to navigate recovery alone.
Whether you're a family member, friend or carer, support is available for you too.

One of the core principles of the NDIS is choice and control.

This means having the opportunity to:
✔ Make decisions about your supports
✔ Choose providers that suit your needs
✔ Set goals that matter to you
✔ Be involved in planning and decision-making
✔ Build greater independence over time

At Quality Care Network, we believe informed choices lead to better outcomes.

Our role is to provide information, guidance and support so you can make decisions with confidence.

Because your NDIS journey should be centred around what matters most to you.

Support Coordination often works behind the scenes.

When support hours are reduced, participants may face challenges such as:
• Difficulty coordinating multiple services
• Reduced advocacy during complex situations
• Delays resolving service issues
• Increased pressure on family and carers
• Greater difficulty navigating system changes

Every participant's situation is unique, and support needs can change over time.

Understanding the practical role of Support Coordination can help ensure supports remain aligned with individual circumstances and goals.

NDIS plans can feel overwhelming when you're faced with unfamiliar terms and funding categories.

Here's a simple way to think about it:
🔹 Goals = What you want to achieve
🔹 Supports = Services that help you work towards those goals
🔹 Funding Categories = How your funding can be used
🔹 Plan Dates = When your plan starts and ends

Understanding your plan helps you make informed decisions and get the most from your supports.

At Quality Care Network, we take the time to explain the "why" behind your plan so you can feel confident navigating it.

What's one NDIS term you'd like explained in plain English?

Housing supports can be one of the most confusing areas of the NDIS.

Here's a quick overview:

🏠 SIL (Supported Independent Living) – Assistance with daily living supports.
🏠 SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) – Purpose-built housing for eligible participants.
🏠 ILO (Individualised Living Options) – Flexible living arrangements tailored to individual needs.
🏠 STA (Short Term Accommodation) – Temporary support and respite.
🏠 MTA (Medium Term Accommodation) – Temporary housing while waiting for long-term arrangements.

Every person's circumstances are different, which is why understanding your options is so important.

Your Support Coordinator should help you feel supported, not confused.

Here are five signs it may be time to review your current support:
1️⃣ You're rarely contacted between plan reviews.
2️⃣ You don't understand how your funding is being used.
3️⃣ Calls and emails regularly go unanswered.
4️⃣ You aren't being given choices or options.
5️⃣ You feel like you're managing everything on your own.

Good Support Coordination should be responsive, person-centred and focused on helping you build capacity over time.

You deserve support that helps you feel informed, heard and confident.
