Something I've learnt is that we confuse being needed with being valued.

We become the organiser.
The helper.
The fixer.
The reliable one.

Over time, our worth becomes tied to what we do for everyone else. But your value was never meant to depend on how much you carry.

If your worth has become tangled up in always being the one who holds everything together, counselling can help you rediscover who you are beyond the role you've been playing — someone who's valued, not just needed.

Sessions are available via phone and video across Australia.

There's a difference between the things that happen to us, and what we do next.

We don't get to choose everything.
We do get to choose how we respond.
We do get to choose what we carry forward.

Circle of control work isn't about pretending you have power over things you don't. It's about noticing where your energy is actually going, and bringing it back to what's yours to work with.

Even in hard seasons, you still have choices — they might not be the ones you'd pick if things were different, but they're still yours.

Counselling can help you find where your choice sits, even in circumstances you didn't choose.

Some of the most important things you'll ever do come wrapped in discomfort:

Having the conversation you've been avoiding.
Setting the boundary.
Trying the thing you might not be good at yet.
Letting go of what's familiar.

Choosing the harder, better option over the easy, worse one.

Discomfort isn't always your body warning you away from danger. Sometimes it's just what change feels like on the way through.

The work is learning to tell the difference — between fear that's protecting you, and fear that's just protecting the version of you that's used to staying the same.

Counselling can help you tell the difference, and take the next step forward even when it's uncomfortable.

🍂 You can miss a relationship and still know it wasn't healthy.
🍂 You can miss a version of your life and still know you've outgrown it.
🍂 You can miss what was familiar without wanting it back.

Missing something doesn't always mean you made the wrong decision. Sometimes it simply means it mattered.

Counselling can help you make peace with the decisions that have shaped your life and move forward with confidence. You can reach out if you have any questions - all the details are at the link in bio or head to www.theruralwomenscounsellor.com.au.

What I've learnt from sitting with hundreds of women is that many of us wait for other people to understand our boundaries before we feel comfortable setting them.

👎We wait for approval.
👎We hope they'll agree.
👎We want them to understand why.

But boundaries aren't about controlling someone else's response. They're about being clear on what you need. Not everyone will understand your boundaries. That doesn't mean they were the wrong ones to set 🪴

Counselling can help you build the confidence to set boundaries that align with your values, even when they're uncomfortable.

It's natural to want the people we love to understand our choices.

But sometimes they won't.

🌿They haven't lived your experiences.
🌿They don't carry your responsibilities.
🌿They aren't making your decisions.

Seeking advice is healthy 👍Seeking permission can keep us stuck 👎

At some point, we have to trust ourselves enough to choose the path that aligns with who we want to be, even if not everyone understands it.

Counselling provides a space to explore your decisions without judgement and build confidence in your own direction. Book online today, or reach out if you have any questions 📧

One thing I've noticed is how often women treat rest like a reward.

👉 "I'll rest when I finish this."
👉 "I'll slow down once everything's done."
👉 "I just need to get through this week."

🛑 But the list rarely ends 🛑

Rest isn't something we earn by becoming exhausted enough. It's something we need to protect if we want to keep showing up as the person we want to be 🌿

If you've been running on empty for longer than you'd like, counselling can be a space to slow down, understand what's happening, and find a way forward.

Sessions are available via phone and video across Australia - link in bio to book online.

One thing I’ve noticed from sitting with women in therapy is that we often feel like we have to choose.
Either we are grateful… or we are struggling.
But both things can exist at the same time.
🍃 You can love your family and still feel exhausted.
🍃 You can appreciate your life and still need support.
🍃 You can feel lucky and still acknowledge that things feel hard right now.
Your struggles don’t have to be compared to someone else’s to be valid.
Today, allow yourself to be honest about how things really feel 🫶

If you’ve been carrying a lot quietly, counselling can be a space to understand what’s happening and find a way forward.
You can book with TRWC online, at the link in my bio, or reach out if you have any questions 💬
