The bloody show🍾🍾🍾 I often share in my classes how beautiful and romantic the French language can be -certainly not the German language 🤣. They even manage to make the mucous plug sound poetic- le bouchon (muqueux) 👨🏻🎨 so what is it? Le bouchon muqueux, the mucous plug or in Australian called the bloody show is a thick jelly-like substance that seals the cervix during the pregnancy. As the cervix begins to soften and your body is getting ready for labour, it may be released. If it comes away too early the cervix is very clever and just makes it again. So how does it look? The best way to describe it, it’s similar to egg white often with streaks of blood in it. And of course Mother Nature always has a plan, it acts as a protective barrier. Not everyone will experience the release of le bouchon muqueux, and for those who do, it can happen days before labour begins- so it’s not a reliable sign of labour. This little story clearly stuck with one my lovely couples… so much so that they gifted me my very own bouchon! Definitely a memorable keepsake!! ❤️😎
