❤️ Building a Community Ready to Respond ❤️
Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Bayway Village in Fern Bay, where 50 residents came together to learn essential CPR and AED skills, helping to strengthen their community’s ability to respond confidently in an emergency.
But this session was about so much more than learning life-saving skills.
We talked about the importance of teamwork, communication and recognising that you don’t have to be the fittest, strongest or most physically capable person in the room to make a life-saving difference.
❤️ Every Good Samaritan has something valuable to contribute ❤️
Not everyone can kneel on the ground and perform chest compressions, and that’s okay! Responding to an emergency is a team effort, and understanding our individual strengths and physical limitations is an important part of working together.
Whether it’s calling 000, locating and attaching an AED, guiding emergency services to the scene, supporting someone performing CPR or simply providing a calm, reassuring presence during an incredibly stressful situation - every action matters, and every person has a role to play.
We also shared some very honest conversations about fears, past experiences and personal losses. These discussions were a powerful reminder that emergency situations aren’t just about clinical skills; they’re about people, emotions, confidence and supporting one another when it matters most.
❤️ CONGRATUALTIONS to the wonderful residents of Bayway Village ❤️
Your willingness to participate, ask questions, share your experiences and embrace the session with such enthusiasm, humour and genuine engagement made it an absolute pleasure to deliver.
Thank you for welcoming me into your home and allowing me to be part of strengthening the safety and resilience of your community.
❤️ Being a Good Samaritan isn’t about what you can’t do, it’s about recognising what you CAN do to help save a life ❤️
