Reality check.

I don’t want you to be someone that finds out the hard way.

If you are wondering what it looks like for you, message me, we’ll organise a call and get it started.

Book in now. In two weeks I won’t be able to take any more initials on, and we’ll be temporarily training out of a different location. If you have been thinking about it, now is the time.

Book here: https://www.sprconditioning.com/recovery

Not every day is the same, but you can guarantee one thing - I’m going to have a good one!

There’s been a lot of change for us lately, but to be able to roll into a day that is full of helping people, seeing progress, engaging people from all ages and walks of life, I consider myself very lucky to have this job at all.

*note: I definitely drink more coffee than I have eluded to here 😅

If you think you, or someone you know, would benefit from engaging in some more specific and progressive exercise with a side of life advice (can’t help myself), please get in touch.

You know what’s fun?

Training people how they want to be trained. Working together to achieve results that are specific to you. Having an opportunity to walk into a session and walk out feeling better because of it.

I love my job, and I love that the people I get to work with get the results from it.

More of this to come.

This is Vikki. I met Vikki 3 years ago, when I was working private practice in Ulverstone. Now, she will choose to travel 3 hours on a bus to see me in Hobart. Her reason for being there was the same story as many people around Australia.

Vikki was diagnosed with Osteoporosis at 63. A condition that over 1 million of Australians live with, predominantly women over the age of 50. It refers to a loss of bone mineral density - that is how strong and well structured our bones are. A diagnosis of Osteoporosis has typically meant that the bones are very weak, and is a major reason why fractures occur in the elderly. This usually results in hospitalisation, a decline in confidence, mobility, freedom and often leads to a shift into a nursing home. Not many people come back out of a nursing home.

Luckily, our story is a positive one. Vikki took to her training with me with a genuine desire to improve her life. Her initial understanding of her condition, and why she was there, was very limited. Her GP had sent her to a specialist, who sent her to a physiotherapist, who sent her to me, an Exercise Physiologist. This is the reality for many, and a difficulty with our health system.

We started gently, undoing layers of uncertainty around her condition, and building confidence in what Vikki was capable of, each session leaving her with a new “challenge” and what became a fond expression of joy: “I’ve got a Spring in my Step”.

Through her consistent, positive and disciplined nature, Vikki was able to reverse her decline, and has improved her bone mineral density, her condition now referred to as Osteopenia. Part of this means that she no longer has a heap of medical appointments taking up her time, and can be more present for her grandchildren, actively playing and enjoying that time.

I’ve been given Vikki’s permission to share her story, in the hope it will encourage other people to take control of their health and not rely on a medical system to do the right thing for them. There are so many special moments in Vikki’s journey I look forward to sharing, but why not start your exercise journey and experience them for yourself.

Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

Have you called your mum? Something you could chat about is whether she is working on her strength and balance 😜

I’m a lucky guy - my mum has been going to the gym for 10+ years, 3 times a week. The work she has put in has definitely changed her life, and likely extended it. An inspirational woman, who loves to encourage her friends to exercise as well.

However, she won’t let me post about her. Again, I’m a lucky guy and I get to see all of these mum’s regularly to help them be able to enjoy their life with feeling stronger, doing more and hopeful improving their quality of life.

It is truly one of the greatest things, to help people improve their independence with exercise. If you think your mum should be doing something to improve hers, reach out.

(Dad’s can come to, but it’s not their day today, just remind them 😜).
