If you're over 40, "eat less, move more" might be the exact reason you're stuck.

It assumes every body burns fuel the same way β€” but after 40 your hormones shift, you lose a little muscle, and your metabolism changes. It's not willpower. It's the wrong plan.

Does this ring true for you? Tell me in the comments. πŸ’›

If the weight won't shift β€” your bloods might be telling a story your check-up isn't asking about.

In 16 years of clinical practice with midlife women across Australia, three blood markers come up again and again. And they're almost never on a standard panel.

β€” Fasting insulin (the earliest sign of insulin resistance, years before glucose moves)
β€” Full thyroid, not just TSH (free T3, free T4, antibodies tell the actual story)
β€” hsCRP (silent, low-grade inflammation that quietly blocks fat loss)

"Normal" on a standard report isn't the same as optimal for losing weight.

If you've been told everything's fine and you still can't shift the kilos, this is where the real conversation starts.

Comment BLOODS and I'll send you my free Metabolism Blood Test Cheat Sheet β€” 8 markers, what to ask for, and the optimal ranges. Just a real conversation β€” no pressure.

Bloating every day isn't "just IBS." It isn't "just hormones." And it isn't how your body's supposed to work.

For 16 years in clinical practice β€” and through my own gut journey with SIBO after a parasite I picked up travelling in my 20s β€” I've watched the same pattern play out.

Daily bloating almost always points to one of four root causes. None of them are "you eat too much." None of them are resolved by another elimination diet:
β€” Low stomach acid
β€” SIBO or SIFO (bacterial or fungal overgrowth)
β€” Sluggish bile or pancreatic enzymes
β€” A migrating motor complex that's stopped firing

It's not your fault. The plan was wrong for your body β€” not the other way around.
Swipe through for what "normal" digestion actually looks like, and three things you can do this week to start mapping your own pattern. πŸ‘‰

If you've been at this for years and you're done with it, comment GUTCALL and I'll send through the free strategy session link. Just a real conversation β€” no pressure.

Slightly unnerving!

For the midlife woman who’s β€œgood all week” then face-plants into the Friday cheese and wine πŸ§€πŸ·
If you hold it together Mon-Thurs then unravel by Friday night, that’s not a willpower problem. It’s a strategy problem. You don’t need more discipline - you need to know what, when and how much to eat for the body you have now, not at 25.
Save this for next time the cheese and wine call, and follow for more midlife metabolism truth minus the guilt.

Here's what frustrates me about most online fasting advice.

It's built for someone who already feels great.

Someone with no gut symptoms. No fatigue. No 15 years of dieting baggage. No real life pulling them in five directions.

Then a woman in her 50s, who's tired, who has IBS, who's eaten badly under stress for the last decade β€” comes in and tries the same protocol. And when it doesn't work, she blames herself.

She's not the problem. The protocol was the problem. It was never built for her.

Real fasting protocols start where the body actually is. Not where the internet says it should be. They scale gradually. They pull back when symptoms flare. They respect that your gut, your stress, your sleep, and your hormones are all part of the picture.

That's the entire reason I built Flexible Fasting. Three levels. Beginner, Intermediate, Adventurous. Self-paced. Pulls back when needed.

If diet-culture fasting has burned you before β€” this is the antidote.

Doors close Wed 13 May. $97 (then $197).

Original draft of my Flexible Fasting program had three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.

The morning before launch, I changed Advanced to Adventurous.

Here's why.

"Advanced" implies elitism. It implies willpower. It implies that if you can't do it, you're somehow less.

But a 36-hour fast isn't an achievement. It's just a tool. And whether it suits you on a given day has nothing to do with how strong or disciplined you are β€” it has to do with where your body is.

"Adventurous" gives permission. To be curious. To try. To pull back. To meet your body where it's at β€” without making it a moral test.

The labels we wear shape how we relate to ourselves. Same with the labels we put on our food, our routines, our bodies.

If you've been telling yourself you're "not advanced enough" for fasting β€” what would change if you let yourself just be adventurous about it instead?

Doors open until Wed 13 May. $97 (then $197).

I've been quietly building this for the last few months.

Every week I have clients asking about intermittent fasting β€” should I try it? Is it safe for my gut? How do I even start?

The problem: most fasting advice online is built for people who already feel good. It assumes you'll just "push through". For my clients with IBS, SIBO, fatigue, or 15 years of yo-yo dieting behind them, that approach is exactly what makes fasting feel like punishment.

So I built something different. Three levels β€” Beginner, Intermediate, and Adventurous β€” designed so you start where your body actually is, not where the internet says you should be. Self-paced. 9 videos. A Q&A call with me. Lifetime access.

It's called Flexible Fasting and the doors are open until Wednesday 13 May.

$97 to join through next Wednesday, then it goes to $197.

Warmly,
Lisa
