Our Albion Park Rail residents had a blast at their recent Italian themed day! 🇮🇹

The day began with some great Italian music with Santino, who had our residents dancing and singing along! This was followed by a delicious lunch made by the Prego Woodfired Pizza who treated our residents to incredible woodfired pizzas. Everyone loved watching the pizzas being made and the smell was amazing! Dessert was a huge hit as well, with cannoli and gelato from Gelato Shak which was thoroughly enjoyed. 🍕

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the day, and a big thank you to the home’s wonderful volunteers who made this all possible through the funds raised from the café! 💚

Our residents had a great day and can’t wait for the next one!

Recently, Walter joined with fellow residents from Goulburn, staff and his family for a lovely morning tea celebration to mark his incredible milestone.

Enjoying Bing Crosby tunes and his favourite cake, a jam and cream sponge, this wonderful occasion filled the home with lots of joy.

We hope you enjoyed your special day Walter! 💜

Today marks World Environment Day, a perfect opportunity to take a moment to reflect on our personal efforts towards sustainability, and how we can work together to protect our planet. 🌏

Over at Albion Park Rail, our residents have been keen to use their green thumbs with the recent launch of Garden to Goodness, a new hands-on wellbeing program! 🌱

Bringing residents, staff and volunteers together to grow vegetables and herbs, learn new skills and connect with each other, our residents have loved getting involved, joining every Friday. Recently, our community village and care home residents gathered for lovely morning teas to mark the initiative’s official launch and to find out more about the program.

Led by a qualified gardener, not only is this a great way to build the wonderful sense of community at Warrigal Albion Park Rail, it’s also a meaningful initiative that contributes to a greener home and village, and of course, adds a nice touch to the gardens. 💚

Held at The Links Seaside by , the event joined together Amanda Archer, our Chief Design and Growth Officer, Tania Brown, Wollongong Mayor, Linda Campbell, Deputy Mayor, Anna Watson, local MP, staff, fellow residents and guests for a fabulous afternoon celebrating Gwen’s achievement!

This is a great reminder that retirement doesn’t mean you stop pursuing your passions and is something we encourage and are proud to support at Warrigal. 💜

Our Mt Warrigal residents and staff had a fabulous time during their recent Mexican themed celebration! 🇲🇽

The celebrations consisted of delicious Mexican food thanks to our amazing kitchen team, including beef nachos, chicken fajitas, churros and a Mexican pound cake. Our residents also enjoyed armchair travel to Mexico, learning more about the country and finding out some fascinating facts along the way. 🌮

Last week during National Volunteer Week, we held our Northern and Southern Volunteer Luncheons – and what special occasions they were, celebrating our remarkable team of over 600 volunteers! 🌟

Held at Diamonds Reception Centre in the Northern region and Goulburn Workers in the Southern region, these lovely events brought together Jenni Hutchins, our CEO, Sophie Ray, Chair of the Board, Carol Berry, MP, Kellie Marsh, Deputy Mayor of Shellharbour, Nina Dillion, Goulburn Mayor, and Wendy Tuckerman, MP, as well as members from our Executive team, staff and our incredible volunteers.

Cheered on as they made their way down the runway, our volunteers were recognised for their significant service milestones ranging from 5-20 years – an immense commitment underpinned by selflessness and compassion. Even Nelson, a service dog who visits our residents, had his moment to shine, making his way down the runway! 🎶

A big congratulations to Pauline, one of our Mt Warrigal volunteers of over 19 years (Northern winner), and Janice, one of our Warrigal Bundanoon volunteers of over 11 years (Southern winner), for being awarded the Norm Rowland Award. This award recognises a volunteer for the difference they make in shaping the care experience of our residents. Thank you, Pauline and Janice, for your generosity and the amazing difference you each make!

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for the time you give to make our residents feel known, loved, and connected. 💜

Today marks the beginning of Reconciliation Week, a week that promotes the importance of equality and respect between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, to strengthen this relationship for the benefit of all. ❤️

This year’s theme, ‘All In’, reminds us of the important role we each have in achieving reconciliation and highlights how this cannot be achieved in a week alone and instead, must be an ongoing commitment.

This week, lets embrace the opportunity to learn about our shared histories and cultures, and reflect on the role we have in working towards a future of greater unity.

A visit from Mack and a day of circus fun have been just some of the recent events at Albion Park Rail! 🐴

Our residents enjoyed an exciting visit from Mack the miniature pony, and it was a hit! Everyone had a wonderful time meeting Mack and can’t wait to have him back soon.

The home also recently transformed into a circus for a day filled with carnival games, including bean bag toss, and an excellent magic show with Craig, who had everyone laughing along. And what would a magic show be without some crowd participation? Our residents loved getting involved and rocking some themed accessories! 🎪

Stirling has been filled with a celebratory atmosphere recently, with our residents and staff joining together for fabulous celebrations to mark Mother’s Day and International Nurses Day! 🎉

On Mother’s Day, our residents were treated to some massage therapy and a delightful high tea – calling for a relaxing day that was certainly enjoyed by all!

On International Nurses Day, everyone showed their gratitude towards the home’s amazing team of nurses, who joined for a lovely celebration along with some of our residents who were nurses. This was a wonderful opportunity to connect, reflect and share their nursing experiences with each other. 💜
