Equilus Oakbank Equilus Oakbank (formally RDA Oakbank) is situated in the beautiful Adelaide Hills offering horse riding activities to people with disabilities.

We currently run lessons on Tuesday and Friday during school terms thanks to our great team of volunteers!

💙🐴 A Little Girl with a Big Heart

10-year-old Ella McLoughlin set out to make a difference, selling muffins at Dressage in the Dark to raise money for horse feed for our wonderful Equilus (formerly Riding for the Disabled SA) Oakbank ponies & horses.

A huge thank you to Luke from Beans & Cream Café, Tanunda, who generously donated the muffins and then went one step further, donating four additional bags of Fat Pony chaff.

Ella’s beautiful reason for helping says it all:

“I wanted other kids to be able to enjoy riding horses like I do. The horses give so much to their riders, so it felt nice to be able to give something back to them.”

What a wonderful reminder that you’re never too young to make a big difference. 💙

Our beautiful Equilus/RDA horses are at the heart of everything we do. They help our riders build confidence, independence, strength and connection, and keeping the horses happy and healthy is essential to making our programs possible. 🐴💙

As of Saturday 1 August, Riding for the Disabled Association of South Australia officially became Equilus.

While our name has changed, our purpose has not ❤️

For more than 50 years, horses have helped people discover confidence, capability, connection, and possibility. That mission remains at the heart of everything we do. Our new name reflects who we are today and the future we are building, while honouring the remarkable legacy of all that has shaped our organisation over the past five decades.

For our participants, families, volunteers, supporters, and partners, it’s business as usual. We remain the same organisation, with the same Board, the same dedicated team and volunteers, and the same commitment to delivering life-changing horse-supported services.

Only our name has changed. Everything that matters about who we are and what we do remains the same. You don’t need to do anything differently.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We are excited to continue it with you as Equilus.

Our centre was thrilled to have 5 of our volunteers awarded Meritorious Service Awards in recognition of their many years of dedication and service in supporting what we do at RDA Oakbank.

Awards were presented to Dianne Rawlins, Freya Lamacraft, Helen James, Ann Fryer and Marie Roma. 👏

Celebrating 80 wonderful years of the Country Women’s Association - Woodside 💜
It was a privilege for some of the Oakbank RDA team to attend the event.
We presented a beautiful bunch of flowers to say thank you for their generosity & especially for bringing little “Lucy” (Cupcake) the Welsh Mountain Pony to our centre.

Oakbank volunteers were recently treated to an excellent training session in horse handling presented by Natasha Cockburn who is an Equestrian Australia Coach, a National Dressage rider and owner of Oakwood Equestrian Academy. The training, which was run twice, was funded by a Volunteer Grant and held at Oakwood Park at Oakbank. All attendees appreciated Natasha’s experience and her ability to make the sessions fun and informative. They especially enjoyed the opportunity to ride Zotti or Mischief! 🐴🐴
