Today, two of my beautiful clients surprised me with the unexpected, a gorgeous bunch of flowers (what a gift for the eyes) & a slice of homemade banana bread (so YUMMY!).
Such simple gestures, but they brought so much warmth, gratitude and joy into my day. Perhaps unexpected kindness lands a little more deeply because it asks us to pause, receive, and truly feel the goodness in front of us.
Life, of course, brings many kinds of unexpected moments.
Some arrive as flowers and homemade banana bread. Others arrive as change, disappointment, uncertainty or seasons we never would have chosen.
A regulated nervous system does not mean we are never shaken or affected by life. And resilience is not about remaining perfectly calm or emotionless through it all.
It’s about having the capacity to move through what comes, seek support when we need it, create space when we need it, and gradually find our way back to ourselves.
Equally, it is about having enough openness to receive the joyful moments fully, to let kindness soften us, nourish us and remind us that life can still surprise us beautifully.
To not allow life to harden us so much that we miss the moments that may appear small, but carry something much bigger: kindness, love, connection and joy.
We cannot control everything that arrives.
But we can continue building the capacity to meet it, move through it, and return home to ourselves, still soft, still tender, still open to life & to the full human experience.
Today, I’m especially grateful for the unexpected joy. For the beautiful souls I am blessed to support, hold space for, laugh with, share tears with and grow alongside.
To not only these two lovely souls, but to every client, who has ever taken the time to bring a spark of unexpected into my day, thank you. It is never missed, & never lost on me.
With gratitude, always,
Dr K🤍
