Let’s talk about why teaching children with disability about fire safety is so important. Understanding basic fire safety helps children know how to respond calmly and safely in an emergency. Learning simple skills such as recognising the sound of a smoke alarm, knowing safe exit routes, identifying trusted adults to seek help from, and understanding when to call emergency services can build confidence and preparedness. Practising these skills regularly in a supportive environment also reduces fear and confusion, helping children feel more secure and better equipped to respond appropriately if an emergency ever occurs.
