Happy World Ocean Day!

Fun Fact - Monday to Friday I actually work full-time in an early learning centre as an Educational Leader!
So here is one of my own little sensory play provocations from today in our dedicated emotional regulation and sensory space π
We use this space to support children who are experiencing some heightened emotions and need some time to relax and regulate their feelings back to baseline. Sensory play is such a wonderful way to help children through those big feelings, the different textures, the different sounds as they tip, scoop and pour, the repetitive nature of mixing things, exploring the different colours... Plus it supports them in developing early language and communication skills as we talk about those colours, shapes and textures.
Featured here are our sensory tray shells, mini bowl, pouring trays and our mini ocean counters in crab, shark, fish and starfish. All sat on a base of coloured rice, chickpeas and salts to ensure that all our sensory fillers are totally taste safe for our smallest citizens!
