Every day, our phones ring.
On the other end is a mum asking how to get her son the therapy he needs. A dad trying to understand his daughter's NDIS plan after a long shift. A grandmother who has spent weeks chasing the right support worker.
We speak to hundreds of carers every single day. And in every call, we hear the same things: passion, dedication, and a love that keeps going long after everyone else has gone to bed.
You make the extra phone call. You do the extra research. You go the extra mile, every day, so your loved one gets the very best.
Carers, we see you. You are appreciated. You are loved. 💜
More than 3 million Australians care for a family member or friend, and primary carers give an average of more than 35 hours of care every week. Most of that work happens quietly, without thanks.
This National Carers Week, the theme is "Care for a carer: Making carers visible." So let's do exactly that. Check in on the carer in your life. Offer them a break. Tell them what they do matters.
And if you're a carer, look after yourself too. Free support is available through Carers Australia and Carer Gateway, including counselling, respite and peer support:
