🥜 This is why I have 2 Brazil nuts every day...

It might seem like a random habit, but there's a good reason behind it.
Brazil nuts are one of the richest natural sources of selenium, an essential mineral that supports normal thyroid function, a healthy immune system and antioxidant defence.

The best part? You don't need many.
Just 1–2 Brazil nuts a day can help support your selenium intake.
Like most things in nutrition, more isn't always better.
Because Brazil nuts are so high in selenium, eating a handful every day isn't recommended.

Sometimes it's the smallest daily habits that can make the biggest difference over time.

✨ Immune support "Coconut Curry Soup" ✨
One of my favourite meal prep recipes!
Make a big batch and stash a few serves in the freezer for those nights when cooking is the last thing you feel like doing, or portion it up for easy grab-and-go work lunches.

🥣 Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil or coconut oil
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp fresh grated ginger
1 tbsp fresh grated turmeric
1½ tbsp curry powder
1 tsp cumin
1¼ cups red lentils, rinsed
1 carrot, diced
1 zucchini, diced
1 red capsicum, chopped
1½ cups cauliflower florets
400ml light coconut milk
5 cups bone broth or vegetable stock
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt and pepper to taste

🥄 Method
1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Sauté onion, garlic, turmeric and ginger for 5 minutes until softened.
3. Stir in curry powder and cumin and cook for a further minute.
4. Add lentils, carrot, zucchini, capsicum and cauliflower.
5. Pour in broth and coconut milk.
6. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
7. Cover and cook for 35 minutes or simmer for as long as you can to release the flavours.
8. Stir through lemon juice.
9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Having nourishing meals ready to go means you're less likely to reach for takeaway or convenience foods when life gets busy.

✨ It's been 12 months since I launched "Your Root Cause" and what a journey it has been.

But the story actually started much earlier...
I sold a successful skin business because I wanted to understand why so many women were still struggling with their skin.
After years of working as a skin therapist, I noticed a pattern. Many women were doing all the "right" things externally, yet they were still struggling with acne, rosacea, eczema, inflammation, pigmentation, or premature ageing.
That's when I realised the answer often isn't always found on the surface.

So, I went to university to study Intergrative Nutrition to better understand what was happening inside the body and how it impacts the skin.

Twelve months ago, I took everything I'd learnt and created Your Root Cause a business built on the belief that true skin health comes from looking at the whole picture.

Today, I combine my passion for skin treatments with a holistic approach that looks beyond the surface.
🌿 Custom Skin Treatments
🌿 Gut Health Testing
🌿 Food Sensitivity Testing
🌿 Functional Nutrition Support
🌿 Practitioner-Only Supplements🌿 Personalised Wellness Plans

Because your skin is often a reflection of what's happening internally.
When we address factors like gut health, inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities, stress, hormones, and lifestyle, we can begin to uncover the root cause, not just manage the symptoms.
One year in, I'm more passionate than ever about helping people feel confident in their skin and empowered in their health.

Thank you to every client who has trusted me with their journey so far. 💛

🌶️Pantry Swap of the Week🌶️
Taco Seasoning

Did you know that food labels list ingredients in order of quantity?
That means the first ingredient is what the product contains the most of, followed by the second, third, and so on.

When you look at the ingredient lists side by side, one starts with sugar and fillers, while the other starts with herbs and spices.

This isn't about being perfect or never eating certain foods. It's simply about becoming more aware of what's in the products we use every day and making small swaps where we can.

A packet of taco seasoning might seem insignificant, but these little choices add up over time.
Choosing products with simple, recognisable ingredients is an easy way to support your health without giving up the meals you love.

🌿 Remember: healthy living doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's as simple as turning the packet over and reading the ingredients.
