NDIS changes are coming – here is one worth knowing about.

From 1 October 2026, changes to NDIS funding for social, civic and community participation will begin as participants move through plan reassessments.

This does not mean everyone's entire NDIS plan will be cut by 50%.

The change specifically targets certain funding allocations, including a planned 50% reset to social, civic and community participation funding and 10% to Capacity Building Daily Activities.

Importantly, essential supports such as personal care, assistance at home, cleaning, transport, employment supports, equipment and SDA are not part of this particular reduction.

The changes will not happen to everyone overnight. They will be introduced progressively as plans are reassessed.

There is a lot changing in the NDIS, and understandably, there is also a lot of confusion.

We will continue to keep our participants and families informed as the changes roll out.

There has been a lot of discussion recently about proposed changes to the NDIS.

Some of the changes being discussed include tighter eligibility assessments, changes to plan reviews, adjustments to community participation funding, changes to support coordination and plan management, and expanded provider registration requirements.

It is worth remembering that these changes are not all happening at once. Some begin later this year, while others are not expected until 2027, 2028 and beyond. Many details are still being worked through, and consultation is continuing.

For participants and families, the most important thing right now is to stay informed and avoid unnecessary panic. Your current plan is not disappearing overnight, and there will be time to understand how these changes may affect you.

A lot of families are feeling unsettled by all the recent conversations around the NDIS.

Something we hear a lot:

“We got the plan approved… but we do not really know what to do with it.”
