Pet Concerns and Wellness - A Natural Perspective
There is growing fear and genuine concern among many pet owners about the ever-expanding vaccination schedules for dogs and cats.
Our daughter is collecting a new addition to the family this week—a Maltese/Shih Tzu puppy—and we are all very much looking forward to welcoming her. Naturally, the topic of vaccination arose, particularly as puppies cannot legally be released or sold without meeting mandatory vaccination requirements.
What many pet owners are unaware of is that veterinarians do not distinguish between small and large animals when administering vaccines. All puppies receive the same dose, regardless of size or weight.
According to TruthSeekers USA:
“All animals receive the same dose of vaccines regardless of their size. A 5-lb cat is given the same amount as a 100-lb dog. Veterinarians are pleading with government to change this.”
To confirm whether this also applied in Australia, I contacted several veterinarians. Each confirmed that there is indeed only one standard dose for both small and large dogs. All expressed concern and disagreement with this policy, yet stated they have no option but to administer the full dose or risk de-registration.
As a retired Professor of Health Science, and having worked as a clinical herbalist, homeopath, and nutritionist for over 40 years, I practice, follow and teach a fundamental principle of medicine:
“It is the size of the dose that makes it a remedy or a poison.”
Treating the patient as an individual—and matching dosage to the size, weight, and unique needs of that individual—is essential for optimal health outcomes. Blindly following protocols without individual consideration contradicts basic biological and clinical principles.
In biological law, herbal pharmacology, and nutritional science, this approach is universally accepted. It aligns with another well-known law of nature:
“Anything in excess is opposed to nature.”
In other words, a dose that is mismatched to the individual’s size and requirements may be harmful.
Another concern for many pet owners is the emerging use of mRNA technology—previously seen in COVID vaccines—which is now being introduced into new human and animal vaccines in the United States. Given that vaccine protocols are largely driven by multinational pharmaceutical companies, it is reasonable to expect that Australia may follow suit. In this context, I understand why pet owners feel uneasy and believe their concerns are valid.
As a naturopath, I have supervised tens of thousands of detoxification and revitalisation programs for humans with excellent outcomes. All living creatures that share similar biological systems—liver, kidneys, intestines, spleen, brain, heart, circulatory, nervous, respiratory and lymphatic systems—respond in comparable ways when supported with appropriate nutrients, herbs, or homeopathic remedies at the correct dose.
To support our new puppy, I have organised a pre- and post-vaccination program, to be used only until an antibody ‘titre test’ confirms that sufficient immunity has been established and further vaccination is unnecessary.
The pre-vaccination phase supports the body with nutrients to maximise health and resilience in preparation for a biological stressor. The post-vaccination phase assists with gentle, safe detoxification following exposure to any excess or potentially toxic substance.
For those who are interested, I have practical and positive ideas that may help your pets not only survive, but truly thrive—naturally, more economically, and with far less fear than is so common in our increasingly over-medicated world.

Are You Content with Your Lot?
It has been wisely said,
‘Contentment is Greater than a Kingdom’.
What is ‘Contentment’?
To me, ‘Feeling Whole and Happy with Who I am, where I am and the direction I am going!’
Recently I penned a post about the importance of keeping fit and I take nothing away from this however, I’ve had a quiet inner voice ‘nudging me’ to ‘write more’.
Physical fitness is an important part of our well being however, it is not the most important!

In my clinical practice I constantly see patients with various health issues and yes, getting fit would be helpful but this is most often not the key to their lasting recovery, revitalisation and quality of life rejuvenation. There is another wise saying I appreciate:

‘You can lose all your money and you have lost a lot.
You can lose your health and you have lost much more.
Bu if you lose your peace of mind, You have lost Everything!’

Yes this is very true and I must be honest, many of the individuals I give consultations to are suffering from ‘Lack of Peace of Mind’. Put another way,
‘Lack of peace of mind is a driving cause behind their disease conditions’.
An unsettled, ‘disturbed’ mind can affect the entire life of the person. Their physical body, attitude and mindset, relationships, work, what they perceive to be reality, everything! Indeed, the verse in the Proverbs comes to mind,
‘A broken Spirit dries the bones’.
Medicines including well formulated herbals and supplements can ‘dull the emotional disturbances for a time, but these are not cures. One of the greatest remedies for re-igniting and fanning a positively charged spark of the Human Spirit is described well in the beautiful words of Dr. Edward Bach:

“There is no true healing without a change in outlook,
peace of mind and inner happiness.”

To keep it simple, let’s think of ‘lack of peace of mind’ as anything that causes you to ‘feel down emotionally’. This is a wave of negative ‘energy in motion’(emotion) radiating throughout your entire body. Negative emotion is any thoughts or feelings that disturb you, lower and bring down your healthy vibration and expression of life.
Constant feelings of negative emotion such as resentment, hate, jealousy, anger, being overwhelmed, ‘something is wrong’, failure and regret, melancholy, anything that causes a constant background sense of being unsettled, disturbed, dis-eased or unhappy.

The most common and disruptive mindsets and emotions I see are:
Fear and Worry particularly fear of the unknown. A constant fear/worry they have a serious disease developing that may not even exist.
When a person has a problem or situation they are not dealing with. This destructive thought pattern can cause all sorts of physical symptoms and reinforce mental distress and illusions.
Other emotional roots of disease include:
Prolonged sadness or suppressed self-expression
Relationship breakdowns in general with partners, children, family and friends.
Prolonged lack of peace, love and respect in a relationship is a very real cause of dis-ease, lowered vitality and chronic illness.
Prolonged grieving, ‘being brokenhearted’.
A prolonged sense of guilt.
Prolonged Un-forgiveness and ‘blaming’ particularly parents, ex-partners, children, family members, someone!
Please notice I use the word ‘prolonged’. Short bursts of negative emotional reactions are not healthy for the body however:
All long-term held negative thoughts, feelings and emotions have a devastating effect upon the wellness and functional integrity of the human frame, mind and psyche.

Continuous negative energy in motion poisons the blood.
It adversely affects the functionality of the brain and entire body. Feeling emotionally down is a moving, radiating vibration, a ‘disturbance in the force’ so to speak. A disruption to the body’s Vital Force known in Naturopathic language as ‘Vis Medicatrix Naturae’, Latin for ‘The healing power of nature’. This is the harmonious flow of intellectual energy creating and maintaining the body’s all important ‘homeostasis’ which is simply ‘balance and harmony of function’ within the cells, tissues, organs and systems of the body.

Negative emotion is confusing, disruptive and can be corrosive to the loving community of cells that make up our body. ‘There is an intellect on all levels within the body. All the cells are living, breathing, listening and ‘responding’ to the messages being transmitted from the brain.

I give more counselling these days than ever before. Not because people are more negative (although this is seen be true in some groups and cohorts) but because my experience has given me an insight into when dis-ease is coming from negative emotion. Throughout my career I have genuinely sort to understand the universal Law of ‘Cause and Effect’ in relation to health and disease. How and why things happen the way they do as there are no coincidences in nature and the universe. Everything is happening as a direct result of a cause. Through feeling my way during a consultation, underlying causative factors directly contributing to chronic disease are usually identified so long as the patient is being totally open and honest.

This is how my ‘Psycho Regulation Massage’ evolved and why it has been very helpful.
Developing a dialog while distracting the person’s attention to areas of the body that are holding ‘suppressed emotion’, together we are able to Identify and deal with causative factors that have really been sabotaging the patients health and happiness often for years!

If you are not happy with your Lot, Find out why. Identify and deal with it!
Let go of negative emotion! Anything that is getting you down!
If nothing changes, nothing changes! Turning points and breakthroughs often require courage and change. ‘Courage is the ability to see things as they are.’ If you need help, I’m here.
I like this prayer very much:

‘O God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can.
And the wisdom to know the difference.’

Life Is - What we choose to make it!
‘I’d rather live one day as a lion (being true to myself) than 100 years as a sheep!’ What about you?

While here, make the most of this wonderful journey called ‘life.’ Make it one of Self discovery, happiness and that golden word ‘Contentment’!
Do some Soul Landscaping within your Lot. Shape it to be ‘Your Happy Place’ and Enjoy it while you can!

‘Enjoy it while you can’? In this physical ‘relative’ universe in which we live, everything is in a constant state of movement and change. Movement in space creates ‘time’ and this is for a very good reason. It stops everything happening at once and this provides a workable component for us to use. Time is opportunity. Be awake, be aware and importantly, be flexible. See the Big picture and Find your Peace and Be at Peace in it. See the changes coming and prepare for them without haste or worry. But this is another post altogether!
Finally, Slow down a little. Don’t worry, don’t hurry and take time to smell the flowers!
Be thankful for ‘Your Lot!’ Who you are and what you have. This is a great place to start!
Love and Light to you,
Dr. Peter

People are dying from the feet up.
We recently returned from travelling internationally and I could not help to observe, not judge, the declining state of wellness of the aging population. I see obesity as always but I also see a decline in Vitality, Wellness and fitness. Of course, this is not everyone, but is in general, most. There are groups of fit and vibrantly well people throughout the world in many communities.
I’d like to share just one ‘reminder’ to my readers as you will have read this in many of my books. ‘People die from the feet up’!
This refers to, we just don’t use our legs enough anymore and this is getting easier with computers, mobile phones, social media and the excellent sport on television!
The legs are the pumps of the body!
They pump not only blood, our ‘river of life’ but also our lymph fluids (our detoxification and immune system) UPWARDS! To our heart and essentially, to our head and more specifically our brain.
One very real cause of the skyrocketing mental and cognitive decline worldwide predominately among the aging in Western so-called civilised countries is simply people are using their legs less as they advance in age. The third world countries that have preserved some of their traditional lifestyles normally require them to keep moving and being active.
In today’s modern society, many look at advancing in age and retirement as resting more, relaxing with an afternoon drink, particularly with friends and generally doing less physically.
The main cause of death in the modern society over the past century has been cardiovascular disease. This refers to degenerative disease effecting the heart, lungs and blood vessels collectively known as the cardiovascular system.
The blood carries nutrient and oxygen to all the cells of the body and then takes debris and leftovers from metabolism to the lungs to be eliminated.
The lymph system is the body’s drainage system (many call it the body’s immune system). This gathers toxic wastes from cellular respiration, metabolism and also toxic substances generated within and that have entered the body. It then carries this to the lymphatic nodes mainly in the groin, under the arms and under the jaw line to the ears, to be eliminated.
The blood assists the Anabolic phases of metabolism and the lymph assists the Catabolic phase.
Both are essential for continued healthy function and both need regular Movement and Resistance to function properly as they are designed to. These essential tissue fluids need to be literally ‘pumped’ around the body!
I have a suggestion that may assist you in achieving this if you are interested. Get a:
Pushbike or stationary bike for resistance and cardiovascular (fitness) training. We have a stationary recumbent bike as the roads now are too busy for us.
Cross Trainer for leg work but to also involve movement and work for the arms.
Treadmill for walking, jogging and running. Up and down hills all in your own home (my favourite).
We have all three and I can’t begin to share how beneficial these are to our human machinery!
Walking is Not enough!
May I bring out, walking is not enough unless it is ‘Vitality or Aerobic Walking’ which is very similar to Race walking which requires the whole body to be involved and work. Casual walking or walking the dog can be good for the mind but let’s be clear, this is not a fitness activity.
The body generally needs at least 15 - 20 minutes of sustained physical output pushing the heart rate up and warming (stimulating) the body three times per week if you are not doing any other physical fitness work. Gardening is a wonderful activity. It is healthy but this also is not a fitness activity unless you are seriously transforming your landscape to set up a new garden. Then it can be quite the workout I can tell you!
And of course, to be healthy and well on all levels, we need a positive mental attitude and need to consume health promoting fuels and not too much of anything!
Hoping this may be helpful.

How Did You Go?

Last week, I invited you to give an extra effort of will—a conscious push beyond the usual—for just one week, and observe what unfolds. I took up the challenge myself, and the results were remarkable.

I committed to greater focus, discipline, and intentional action. One major shift was revitalising my morning routine: each day began with a solid workout—bike, cross-trainer or treadmill—followed by yoga and, most notably, a pool session in the crisp, early winter mornings. Yes, I fully immersed myself in the cold water and did some 'aqua-toning' assisting my body to adjust. This was followed by a brisk outdoor shower—truly invigorating!

Interestingly, the shift in routine meant I briefly disrupted my longstanding daily practice of morning meditation. Twice during the week, I realised I had missed it—once even waking in the night to correct it. This showed me just how much a new rhythm can challenge even the most ingrained habits.

So, what happened as a result of this extra effort?

I experienced heightened clarity, vitality, and a powerful sense of well-being throughout the day. One particular day in clinic stood out as one of the most fulfilling I can recall—patients reported extraordinary results, and the energy was truly uplifting. I know this was no coincidence. It was a direct outcome of focused intention followed by consistent, meaningful action.

The laws of creation are always in motion. We create through thought, word, and deed. And when these align with higher intention, the results can feel like magic. But it’s not magic—it’s alignment. When things "coincide," it’s simply evidence of our inner and outer worlds coming together.

The invitation remains open: you can choose to give an extra effort of will—any time, any day, at any stage of life. If you took the challenge this past week, I’d love to hear what you experienced. Share here or email me directly: [email protected]
