💙 Men's Health Week 2026 | 15–21 June
As HR and WHS professionals, we talk a lot about duty of care. This week, we're asking every organisation in Australia to look beyond the physical hazards and ask a harder question: are the men in your workforce truly well?

The numbers are confronting. In Australia, 7 men die by su***de every day. 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety in their lifetime. 1 in 7 will face depression. These aren't abstract statistics — they're your employees, your supervisors, your site managers, your colleagues. And in far too many cases, no one around them knew they were struggling.

Under Queensland's WHS legislation and the broader national framework, psychosocial hazards are now a compliance obligation — not a wellbeing nice-to-have.

Practical steps every organisation can take right now:
✅ Embed regular mental health check-ins into team leader practice
✅ Review your psychosocial hazard register — is it current and actioned?
✅ Make EAP access visible and genuinely encouraged, not just a line in the handbook
✅ Train your supervisors to have the conversation — not to diagnose, but to listen
✅ Create a workplace culture where asking for help is normalised, not stigmatised

If you're based in Rockhampton or Central Queensland, we strongly encourage your organisation to connect with Walk 'n' Talk Collective — a grassroots local charity co-founded by Rocky locals, providing peer support, community walks, and mental health services across the region: https://zurl.co/fIQDN
Where also proud to support — doing critical work across regional Australia to build emotional literacy in men and tackle mental health challenges before they escalate into crisis:https://zurl.co/dPT5p

💙 If your organisation needs support developing psychosocial risk frameworks, mental health policies, or workplace wellbeing programs — that's exactly what we do at CROSS Safety and CROSS Recruit.

Workplace health and safety now includes wellbeing, mental health, psychosocial risks, bullying, harassment, fatigue, stress and workplace culture.

Under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld), businesses must provide a work environment that is safe and without risks to health, so far as is reasonably practicable. This includes managing psychosocial hazards that may cause physical or psychological harm.

Businesses also need to be aware of their positive duty under the S*x Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) (amended in December 2022) to take proactive steps to prevent workplace s*xual harassment, s*x discrimination, s*xist conduct and victimisation.

A safe workplace is one where people feel respected, supported and able to speak up.

Because wellbeing is safety.

Online & Digital Bullying: A Growing WHS Risk Employers Can’t Ignore

Psychological safety isn’t optional—it’s a legal obligation. And with more of our communication happening online, digital abuse and cyberbullying are now critical workplace health and safety issues.

Under WHS legislation, employers must take action to protect workers from psychological harm, including abuse that occurs through email, social media, messaging apps, and other digital platforms.

Safe Work Australia, together with eSafety, has released new practical resources to support employers in managing these risks. These include:
📌 A downloadable awareness poster
✅ A workplace checklist
📚 Clear guidance on prevention and support pathways

At CROSS we help businesses navigate this complexity—because workplace safety extends beyond physical environments to digital ones, too.

Same people. Same values. Same commitment.

You may notice that we are looking a little different.

As part of our continued growth, we have refreshed our branding and are now trading as:

CROSS Recruit | CROSS Safety | CROSS Aviation

Under the parent company CROSS APAC Group Pty Ltd.

This change allows us to better represent the different areas of support we provide, while keeping the same high standard of service our clients know and trust.

For 10 years, our team has worked alongside businesses across Australia and the Asia Pacific, providing practical support across recruitment, safety, risk, business continuity and aviation charter services for large scale ventures and remote work locations.

Our branding has changed, but our commitment has not.

We remain focused on building strong relationships, delivering reliable advice, and supporting businesses with real-world solutions.

A refreshed brand. A familiar team. A continued commitment to excellence.

Supporting CapRescue’s 2026 Annual Appeal 🚁

CROSS APAC is proud to help spread the word about CapRescue’s 2026 Annual Appeal and the vital work of Rescue300 across our region.

CROSS APAC has proudly supported CapRescue through the Rescue300 Club since 2018, standing alongside other local businesses and community supporters who help keep this life-saving service in the air.

Around 30% of CapRescue’s operational funding comes directly from community contributions, helping keep Rescue300 and its crews mission-ready 24/7.

As part of this year’s appeal, local businesses and supporters are being encouraged to get behind the campaign, share the message, and support the service that helps save lives across Central Queensland.

Every contribution helps keep Rescue300 ready to respond when our region needs it most.

CROSS is proud to be kicking off Small Business Month with our Managing Director, Simon Lever, joining two other guest speakers at the Capricornia Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

May is Small Business Month, a great opportunity to recognise the important role small businesses play in our local economy.

Small businesses create jobs, support families, strengthen regional communities and keep money circulating locally. They are often the backbone of towns like ours, quietly driving growth, resilience and opportunity every day.

We look forward to being part of the conversation and supporting the businesses that help keep our region moving.
