Heat: Eyelash extensions worst enemy.
You may think water is your lashes worst enemy but actually its heat.
Heat can alter your lashes. Eyelash extension eyelashes usually consists of these three types: Mink, Faux Mink and Silk. Mink fur has been chemically processed and faux mink and silk are both made from a fiber called PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) BASICALLY a type of plastic.
When you sweat a lot the heat from your body can alter your lash curl and can become straight over time. Your D curl will end up being a C curl, your C curl will end up being a B curl. So if you’re wondering why your super curly set has lost its curl over-time, this is probably why. If your’e an oily person, the combination go sweating and oil will cause your lashes to fall off even quicker
Ways heat can straighten your lashes:
Blasting a heater to your face
Hot sauna
Very very hot humid weather
Gym/ Dancing/ Working out/ Hot Yoga
Hot steamy showers
For very extreme heat, it can potentially singe and melt your lashes. Remember most eyelash extension materials are made from this plastic-like fiber so of course it can melt from extreme heat. How can you tell if your lashes are singed or melted? One easy way to tell is if you can’t comb through it with your mascara wand. If it gets stuck then they’re melted together. Another way you can tell is if the tips of your extensions are all curled and crispy looking (image below for example.
