A free RSV vaccination is now available for over 75s.

RSV or Respiratory Syncytial Virus is a common and highly infectious virus. This respiratory infection can be serious for both young children and older adults leading to hospitalisation and even death.

The RSV vaccination has now been added to the National Immunisation Program. It is free for over 75s or for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders over 60 years.

Speak to your GP about getting your free vaccination.

++ UPDATE++ The Queensland Nasal Spray Flu Immunisation Program has been updated to include children 6 to 17 years. FluMist Nasal Spray will be free in 2026 for all children aged 2 to 17 years (inclusive). The nasal spray influenza vaccine is given as a quick, painless spray into the nose by our experienced nurses. No needles are used.

Who is eligible?
6 months to 5 years,
65+years,
6 years to 64 years with these underlying medical conditions:
cardiac disease
chronic respiratory conditions
immunocompromising conditions
hematological disorders
chronic metabolic disorder
chronic kidney disease
chronic neurological condition
long term aspirin therapy in children aged 5 to 10 years.
