🌿 Dal Makhani

After sharing last night’s Dal Makhani with my Indian cooking teacher, Chef Jagdish, my husband decided the presentation needed an upgrade 😅

Same recipe. Same delicious taste. Just a little more chef-approved 👨‍🍳✨💛

I’ve been spending a lot of time listening to the people of Iran and learning about the suffering many Persian people have endured in ways most of us could hardly imagine. It’s not something I ever expected to focus on, but I can’t help feeling that their stories need to be shared.

When the world is silent and people lose their voice — especially after internet shutdowns and reports of mass killings, arrests, and executions — it’s impossible for me to simply look away. Every day I read another heartbreaking story, another grieving mother, another life lost. How can this still be happening in our time? At moments it feels reminiscent of the darkest periods of history — witch hunts, public hangings, fear, and persecution.

As an Aquarius, I’ve often heard that I’m meant to speak up for human rights, though for most of my life I never really saw that as my role. Part of me worried that focusing on darkness would dim my light. Truthfully, it has affected me emotionally, but I also feel I can’t remain silent while innocent people suffer.

If my discomfort can help even a little — by helping these voices be heard, by raising awareness, by encouraging compassion — then it is worth it. Please take the time to read what these Persian mothers and families are expressing, and share their stories if your heart is moved to do so.

The more we shine light on darkness, the more possible it becomes for the people of Iran to one day soon live in freedom ❤️
