💙 I’m proud to be taking part in the Walk to Defeat MND Illawarra this year 💙

As a speech pathologist, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people living with MND and their families. I’ve witnessed their resilience, courage, and determination, and it’s a constant reminder of why this cause matters so much.

This walk is about raising awareness, funding vital research, and supporting people living with MND, while working towards a future where no one has to face this disease.

This is really close to my heart and it would truly mean the world if you could support the Magnolia team to help me a difference! Whether you’d like to walk alongside the Magnolia Allied Health team or support the cause with a donation, every person and every contribution makes a difference.

Join the team or donate here:

Thank you for helping us take one step closer to defeating MND. 💙

School holidays are here, and if you’re anything like me, “plan” is a generous word for what’s happening over the next two weeks.

Good news, you don’t need elaborate activities to keep the kids busy and build their speech and language skills at the same time.

Save this post for when you need a few easy ideas on hand, and drop your own go-to holiday activity in the comments, always keen to add to the list.

A few times a year I get to do one of my favourite things - run workshops on adult swallowing for Masters speech pathology students at Charles Sturt University.

This time I got to team up with the wonderful Jessie from Grow Paediatrics to cover paediatric feeding as well, so the students got the full picture - from the littlest eaters to our adults. What a day! ✨

There is something really special about being in that room. The curiosity, the questions, the moment you can see something click. Watching their passion for speech pathology and dysphagia grow in real time never gets old.

I go in to teach and I always come out inspired.

If you’re a current or future speech pathologists - this work matters, and so does your enthusiasm for it. Please never lose it 🌱

Tag a future speechie in the comments and follow along for more from the world of speech pathology! 🤍

By now you’re probably aware I love a cup of tea ☕

So it only made sense to start a series around one.

(Yes, the name came to me when Home Among the Gumtrees was stuck in my head all day today) 🤣

Introducing You and Me and a Cup of Tea - where you send me your speech pathology questions and I do my best to answer them in upcoming videos.

Whether it’s about your little one, yourself, or someone you love - no question is too small, too silly, or too complicated.

Zero judgement. Strictly confidential. Just real information for real people who are tired of waiting for answers.

Tongue Twister Tuesday!

Your brain just worked overtime to get that out - and that’s kind of what I find fascinating about communication. 🤯Every time we speak, our brain is coordinating timing, muscle movement, and language processing all at once - in milliseconds. It’s genuinely incredible. As an SLP, I get to work with people when that process needs a little extra support - and honestly? It never gets old. 🗣️💙How’d you go? Be honest!👇”

Your voice works overtime and most of us were never taught how to look after it. These are the strategies we wish someone had told us sooner.

Save this and share it with someone who you think might need this! 🎤

If something feels off with your voice, reach out to your GP or your speechie 🤍
