🩺 NEW PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINE AVAILABLE FROM 1 JULY 2026

A new pneumococcal vaccine, Capvaxive® (21vPCV), is now available through the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for eligible adults.

Capvaxive® replaces Prevenar 13® and Pneumovax 23® for adults on the NIP and provides protection against more strains of pneumococcal disease.

✅ FREE for:
• Adults aged 65 years and over
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults aged 25 years and over
• Adults aged 18 years and over with eligible medical conditions that increase the risk of severe disease

If you have previously received a pneumococcal vaccine, you may still be eligible for Capvaxive® if it has been at least 12 months since your last dose.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a contagious respiratory virus and can cause severe infection in older adults which may lead to hospitalisation. RSV can be spread through:
- A person touching their face after having contact with a contaminated surface.
- cough or sneezes from infected people.
- direct contact with infected people.

Vaccination is the best protection.
