Our wonderful clinic manager and AEP Courtney attended the Golden Wattle Cafe yesterday with one of our AHA’s Liv F to discuss exercise for dementia and improving balance as we age! ✨

The Golden Wattle Cafe is a cafe for people living with dementia, their carer’s, and people in the community 🙏

Courtney and Liv both had a wonderful time chatting to everyone and playing some fun exercise games! 💃

Thanks so much for having us! 🌸

The other week we had a lovely group of sport science students from St Mary’s College come and visit the clinic! 🌟

Learning about all things biomechanics and body movement, we thought it was a great opportunity to have a go on our VALD force decks! 💪

AEP Emily took them through some of the testing protocols we use with clients and then also finished with a little circuit and strength session on the reformers! 💃

We absolutely love educating people about what we do and why we do it ✅

Squats are one of the most effective exercises for improving lower body strength, functional capacity and independence for activities of daily living.

Whether you’re starting with a bodyweight sit-to-stand, progressing to a weighted goblet squat, or performing a barbell back squat, each variation provides meaningful benefits and can be tailored to your individual goals, needs and experience.

In this video, Zoey and Piper take us through a range of squat variations, demonstrating how the same movement pattern can be adapted for different abilities while still building strength and confidence.

Remember, progression looks different for everyone and every squat variation has its place in improving health, function and performance! 💪

National Diabetes Week 🩸

This National Diabetes Week, we’re highlighting the powerful role that exercise can play in managing blood glucose levels and improving overall health.

Diabetes management is about more than just medication and monitoring blood glucose levels. Regular physical activity helps your muscles use glucose more effectively, improves insulin sensitivity, supports healthy body composition, and reduces the risk of diabetes-related complications.

The good news? Every movement counts. Whether it’s a walk after a meal, a strength training session, or simply breaking up long periods of sitting, small changes can have a meaningful impact on your health.

At Hobart Exercise Physiology, our Accredited Exercise Physiologists work with people living with diabetes to develop safe, effective, and personalised exercise programs tailored to their goals, fitness level, and diabetes management needs.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed, looking to improve blood glucose control, or wanting support to become more active, we’re here to help!
