Teardrop or round — how is the implant shape decided?
Dr Drew Cronin explains that implant shape is one of the topics most commonly discussed in consultation. Both round and teardrop (anatomical) implants are options, and neither is universally suited to everyone.
The choice depends on factors such as a patient's existing anatomy, tissue characteristics and the look they are hoping to achieve. Round implants and teardrop implants each behave differently, and the right option is considered case by case.
Rather than one shape being 'better', the decision is about what suits the individual patient in front of him.
