🏋️‍♂️ No Pain No Gain? 🏋️‍♂️

A very common misconception in the world of intelligent strength training is the notion that in order to get the best result possible we must push ourselves to absolute failure every single time we train.

This is simply not the case!

Our body is an intelligently adaptive machine that responds to an appropriate amount of stimulus. Fortunately for us, that stimulus does not need to mean absolute failure.

In fact, reaching absolute failure can actually hamper of ability to gain strength efficiently over the long term.

This applies to everyone who needs to improve their strength, from the rehab trainee who can’t get up from their chair, to the elite lifter who wants to deadlift more. The keys to improvement are frequency, consistency and intelligent stimulus.

We find that as soon people truly understand this concept in their own specific context they can start to make meaningful improvements to their current state of function, experiencing true progress for good.

It seems so simple, but sometimes we all need a little reminder.

There's is no such thing as 'Exercise'!

It's simply a term that has been used to describe human movement being done for a specific purpose.

This is part of the short fall of scientific research when it comes to determining the effectiveness of 'exercise' on the whole.

Most people would agree that exercise is beneficial in just about any case.

Yet we have to be aware that the term 'Exercise' will be interpreted by the person who we're speaking to based on their own biases.

In our experience, these biases and tendencies towards different types of exercise can be what is causing a particular issue for someone.

People can think 'exercise' is something good for them, no matter what they're doing.

This often means that they tend to neglect the fact that our bodies are adaptive organisms to respond to stress. Too much stress in the wrong direction & things start to break down.

Where we come in, is we help to find the weak points. The areas where these biases are falling short. We help to make someone's understanding of exercise more whole.

Debunking some common misconceptions about the perfect posture... Whilst there is no "one size fits all" or a perfect posture, it's important to listen to your body and consider correct screen height, position of your joints and to still move regularly.
Reducing pressure on joints and soft tissues is imperative to maintain flexibility and avoid deconditioning.

Through core strength training, patients with chronic low back pain can strengthen their deep trunk muscles.

However, independent training remains challenging, despite the existence of numerous core strength training strategies.

Currently, no standardized system has been established analyzing and comparing the results of core strength training and typical resistance training. The abdominals draw-in that occurs during contraction provides spine segmental stability and maintains the spine within the neutral zone. When the core muscles function normally, they can maintain segmental stability, protect the spine, and reduce stress impacting the lumbar vertebrae and intervertebral discs hence, the core muscles are also called “the natural brace” in humans.
