A little CALMA tool for when you don’t know what to do ✨

When you’re faced with a difficult decision, a problem or a situation that has you going around in circles, try asking yourself: what would a wise person do?

Then pause……take a breath…..and listen.

Because sometimes the wise person you’re looking for isn’t someone outside of you.

It’s the little wise person within 💛

Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can offer someone is simply a space to be heard, understood, and met exactly where they are 💛

A little client feedback from a recent CALMA session.

Calmer. Restored. Empowered.

If you’ve been feeling like you’re carrying a little too much on your own, perhaps it’s time to make some space for you.

I have two session spots available this week (online):

✨ Wednesday at 3pm
✨ Friday at 2pm

If one feels like it might be for you, send me a message.

Tonight at college we started a new unit: Provide Loss and Grief Support.

The session tonight included doing some research on the support available for different types of grief.

It therefore seems appropriate to share details of Connecting Mothers In Grief .

It is an organisation offering peer led support and love to parents carrying heavy grief after the loss of their child / children.

They provide a safe space for parents to feel heard, held and understood in a compassionate, non affiliated and non-judgemental environment 💛

Their website is: https://cmig.com.au/

The things you find when you slow down 🌿

A beautiful gum tree.
Society garlic.
A flowing creek.
Golden wattle.
And… a dinosaur in the mud. 🦖😂

None of these things were the reason I went for my walk.

But they were the reason I came home feeling a little different.

Sometimes wellbeing isn’t about doing something to feel better.

Sometimes it’s simply about being present enough to notice what’s already there.

Slow down. Look around.
There might be more beauty than you think 💛

I had my tonsils out when I was about five.

I don’t remember much about being in hospital tbh.
I do remember getting some new clothes for my doll, and the gigantic beautiful rocking horse in the playroom.

Little did that girl know…

She would grow up and find herself living on the other side of the world.

She would become a mum of two crazy and amazing kids.

She would become a lover of dogs.

She would spend years building a career, chasing success and doing what she thought she was supposed to do.

She would experience love, heartbreak, joy, disappointment and everything in between.

She would lose herself a little along the way, but then, slowly, she would find her way back to herself.

She would learn that she didn’t have to have all the answers.

That she could trust her own intuition.
That slowing down wasn’t weakness.
That looking after herself wasn’t selfish.
And that perhaps the life she was meant to live wasn’t the one she’d been planning all along.

Little did that girl know that one day, she’d create CALMA — with the hope of helping other people find their way back to themselves, too 💛

What makes you feel alive? 💛

This handsome old boy called Zep, who recently turned 16 years old, is one of the things that fills my cup 🐾💗🐾

Going for a walk along our local creek.
His entertaining little personality.
Unconditional love.
The simple joy of having him by my side, and seeing him enjoy life.

And it got me thinking about vitality ✨

Not just surviving the day.
Not just getting everything done.
But actually feeling connected to your life.

So here is a little wellbeing check-in for this week:

🌿 What brings me joy?
What genuinely makes you smile, laugh, feel connected or feel good to be alive?

🌿 What fills my cup?
What restores you rather than drains you? It might be time in nature, movement, music, creativity, connection, quiet time — or simply being with someone (or something!) you love.

🌿 Am I making space for those things?
Or have they slowly disappeared underneath work, responsibilities, stress and the endless things that need doing?

Because self-care isn’t always about massages, bubble baths and pampering.

Sometimes self-care is making room for the things that make you feel like you again.

And sometimes, when we’ve been running on empty for a long time, it can be difficult to even know what those things are anymore.

That’s where taking some time to pause, reflect and explore what you genuinely need can be incredibly valuable.

Holistic counselling can be a space to do exactly that — to look at the whole picture, reconnect with yourself and explore what might help you feel more balanced, connected and alive.

So this week, you might like to ask yourself:

What gives me joy?
What fills my cup?
And am I making space for it?

I’m Lesley from Lesley - Holistic Wellbeing Therapist , offering holistic counselling and wellbeing support in person (if you’re local) and/or virtually.

Maybe Zep is your reminder that sometimes the simplest things can bring us back to ourselves 💛

Your nervous system listens to the words you say.

When you’re stressed, anxious, overwhelmed or stuck in a cycle of worry, your internal dialogue can reinforce the sense that something is wrong.

But you can consciously introduce a different message.

I am safe ✨

Not: everything is fine.
Not: nothing bad will ever happen.
Just: I am safe, in this moment.

And when you say it slowly, intentionally, while taking a breath and allowing your body to soften, you’re not simply thinking a positive thought.

You’re practising .

You are bringing your attention out of the imagined future and back into the present.

And you can build on it:

I am safe ✨
I am here✨
I can breathe✨
I can handle this moment ✨
I don’t have to solve everything right now✨

The words we repeatedly say to ourselves become part of the environment our nervous system lives in, so you might want to choose them intentionally.

What would your nervous system benefit from hearing today?

Lesley 💛
