There was a time in my life where everything felt harder than it needed to be, and harder than it actually was.

Small things felt big.
Big things felt overwhelming.
And even the good moments didn’t quite land the way they should, and felt like relief rather than joy.

What I didn’t realise at the time…was that I wasn’t “failing at life” — my nervous system was just completely dysregulated.

Because here’s the truth:

When you’re in a constant state of stress, anxiety, or emotional overload…life doesn’t just feel difficult — it *is* experienced as more intense.

The lows feel heavier.
The problems feel bigger.
The world feels less safe.

But the opposite is also true…

When you begin to feel calm — truly calm —
you don’t remove life’s challenges…
you change your capacity to meet them.

And suddenly:
• The hard days feel more manageable
• The emotions move through you, not against you
• The good moments feel fuller, richer, more present

This is what *Calma* is about.

Not a perfect life.
A regulated one.

Over the next little while, I’m going to share more about what it actually means to become calm — not just as an idea, but as a way of living.

One of the most valuable pieces of advice I’ve ever received was this:

You can’t be upset about not receiving something you’ve never asked for.

It sounds simple… but it lands deeply when you really sit with it.

So often we hold unspoken expectations —
We hope people will just *know* what we need.
We assume they’ll show up in the ways we would.
We quietly wish things were different.

And when those expectations aren’t met… we feel hurt, disappointed, or even resentful.

But the truth is —
People can’t meet needs they don’t know exist.

Clear communication isn’t always easy.
It can feel vulnerable.
It can feel uncomfortable.

But it’s also where connection deepens.

There is power in expressing what you need.
There is clarity in saying the quiet part out loud.

And sometimes… there is also peace in realising that not everyone is able (or willing) to meet you there — and that’s information too.

Something to gently reflect on: where in your life might you be holding expectations that haven’t been communicated?

No judgement. Just awareness 💖

I’ve been quietly offering something a little special lately… a midweek reset walk.

It’s a gentle walk (usually by the creek), open to anyone local who might be craving a bit of fresh air, connection, and real conversation. No pressure, no expectations—just space to walk, talk, or simply be.

What’s been really lovely is how naturally it’s unfolding.

One beautiful woman has now joined me three times, and each walk has brought meaningful, grounding conversation—the kind where you leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected to yourself.

This isn’t a formal session, but it *is* a space where you’ll be met, heard, and supported. And sometimes, it can be a really nice first step if you’ve been curious about holistic counselling / working together in a more intentional way.

✨ If you’ve been feeling a bit stuck, isolated, or just want some company midweek, you’re so welcome to join.

Come once, or come regularly—whatever feels right for you.

The change in seasons can often prompt a change within us—winter especially. It quietly invites us to slow down…..to stay home more, cook more, rest more.

While this can be deeply nourishing (and often exactly what our bodies need), it can also feel a little isolating at times.

If you’ve noticed yourself withdrawing, overthinking, or just feeling a bit “off” lately—you’re not alone. This season has a way of bringing things to the surface.

In fact, that might be exactly what you should do.

It’s when the mind is quiet(er) that we can work out what’s really going on underneath it all.

So if you manage to find some calm in the chaos, ask yourself if you are holding onto something that might be ready to move through you.

Happy Friday ✨

May 22nd: make your goals, dreams and ambitions a priority. If you wait until later in the day when you’ve ticked off your ‘to do’ list then you might not find the time at all, or your energy might be so low that it sends a message to your brain (and the universe!) that it’s not that important after all.

The beginning of the day is for goal and intention setting, so do it.

Say it out loud: today I am creating new opportunities and exciting prospects are ahead of me ☺️☺️☺️

Start Your Fresh Start
