Taking some time to acknowledge the parts of you that are struggling can help you disidentify from them and sense your Self as bigger/higher/more than your life experience. From that place, you can try to meet their needs.
What is the effect of childhood emotional wounds on your life today?
Parts develop because:
1. Something hard/painful/bad happened.
And
2. You didn't get the emotional support you needed to heal from it.
The absence of what was needed in order to heal is what gives rise to parts... critical parts, rebellious parts, anxious parts, needy parts... And all those parts are trying to protect you the best they can, but they aren't succeeding.
The unhealed hurts we carry from earlier times affect our lives in big and little ways.
Here's the good news: Healing is still possible. Whenever you receive what you would have needed back then, healing can happen.
And now you can give that healing to yourself! You can cultivate your ability to offer yourself what would have been right.
It isn't always easy. In fact, sometimes offering your parts compassion is hard. When you feel you're struggling, just notice that it's hard. You might even say to yourself, "I'm sensing how hard it is to be with all of this." That simple acknowledgment helps you move back into inner presence again.
