πŸ”” Across Queensland at 2pm on Monday 27 July, you may receive a test alert that is loud and vibrating on your compatible mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches.

This test alert message will:
πŸ“² turn on your device screen to display the test alert message
⏰ vibrate your device
πŸ”ˆ play a loud, siren-like sound for about 10 seconds
Devices on 'silent' or 'do not disturb' mode can still get a loud vibrating alert.

You don’t need to do anything if you receive the test alert. This is just a test for AusAlert, a new nationwide warning system that quickly sends information during emergencies which will be ready to use in October 2026.

If receiving this loud, vibrating alert on your devices could be distressing or unsafe for you or someone you know, for example you may have sensory sensitivities, or it may expose a hidden phone you have for a DFV safety plan, you could:

πŸ’œ Give your device to a trusted person
πŸ”’ Store your device somewhere secure (such as a personal locker at work)
πŸ”• To miss the test alert, you can turn off your mobile device or put it in aeroplane mode at 1pm 27 July, one hour before the test. Keep your devices turned off or in aeroplane mode for at least one hour until after the test finishes at 3pm 27 July.

AusAlert may increase risk for people experiencing violence, especially if they live with someone who uses violence. Alerts may expose safety devices.
