Stop to smell the roses. Pause and take a mental photograph of those beautiful moments. Take a deep breath and look for the moments of perfection. Let yourself dwell in them for a moment. Those moments are pure joy and happiness - the things we are always searching for. They are always there, sometimes we just lose focus and need to retrain ourselves to look for the positives instead of the negatives

There are times when we just need to rant and get things off our chest. We want someone on our side to rant with us and agree that the situation sucks. We know ourselves what the solution is and what we need to do, but it feels good sometimes to have a whinge. In those moments we’re looking for comfort.

Then there are times we really need help coming up with solutions, making a plan and taking action.

When having a conversation with someone it’s good to know what the other person needs - comfort or solutions, so you can get on the same page with them and have a productive conversation. It’s good to know this for yourself so you know what you’re looking for out of the other person and you can walk away with your needs being met. So next time your partner/friend/family member comes to you with a problem, ask them: do you need comfort or solutions?
