My first labour ended in intervention.
When I started preparing for my VBAC, I kept coming back to one moment…the transition from home to the birth centre.
At home, things were intense and rhythmic. I was in my body, in my space.
When we moved, my contractions slowed. At the time I wondered if it had been too soon. In hindsight, I think my nervous system just needed more time to catch up with the new environment.
I wonder how different the birth would have been if I trusted my intuition. I knew something had shifted, I just didn’t have the language for it yet.
Now I do. And that’s why I love educating women about pregnancy and the nervous system here and in my practice.
💬 Have you had a moment in birth where you wish you’d listened to yourself? I’d love to hear it.
