🟢 It's World Patient Safety Day. This year's theme: Safe care for noncommunicable diseases. Slogan: "Safe care for life!"

One of this year's campaign objectives is about promoting the meaningful engagement of people living with NCDs in identifying safety risks and co-developing solutions with health practitioners. On Tuesday, we delivered our final pitch for NeedleCalm to Sydney Angels. 80 companies applied, we were one of six selected to present, and we made it to the final round — where we needed three investors to form a syndicate. Two said yes.

We didn't come out as the one selected this time — but making it that far, off the back of 10 years building this company, is something I'm genuinely proud of.

Thank you to Sydney Angels for the opportunity, and to everyone who has supported NeedleCalm along the way. We're continuing to grow, and our focus remains the same: helping people avoid the pain and anxiety of needle procedures — drug-free, and in seconds.

Please join us in congratulating one of our followers from the USA! Last week, we received some incredible news, she had her blood test. 🎉

For as long as she can remember, Margo has been afraid of needles.

A traumatic injection experience at age five left a lasting fear that followed her for years, bad enough that she needed sedation just for dental work involving needles.

When bloodwork became medically necessary, she began EMDR therapy to work through the fear at its root. Weeks of preparation later, she faced her appointment again, and for the first time in her life, she got through it without crying.

This National Diabetes Week, we want to say the thing we don't hear said enough: needle fear in diabetes care is real, common, and rarely talked about.

Up to 80% of people living with diabetes experience some degree of needle anxiety, and yet daily glucose checks and injections don't wait for that fear to go away.
