Yesterday the WiBF Women in Banking & Finance awards was held at the ICC in Sydney 😍

Congrats to all the finalists and winners for each of the awards, to WIBF and Stephanie Girard for another amazing event and for creating the space for incredible women to be cherished.

As a judge for the event, I felt so much gratitude (and awe) for the caliber of people nominated this year. There were more nominations than I've seen, and the depth and care put into the nominations, show that both men and women are advocating and supporting change within the industry and bringing incredible talent to the surface.

Well done to Stephanie Girard for the event, Louise Mahler your engaging and energizing holding of the space and everyone who made the event possible.

I'm looking forward to beginning our 2nd cohort of the WIBF Workplace Flourishing program next week.

It's a 10-week journey for senior execs in the industry, to come together and learn how to lead self and others, develop mental resilience and flexibility, emotional and moral intelligence and so much more. And each cohort brings such richness, diversity and opening, I can't wait to be my small part of such a fabulous movement!

Have a great weekend!
Andrew

Overworking is a place called home for most business owners right now...
Darn shame given it's usually not the reason people are in business for themselves

Yet the reason why surprised me and goes counter to most advice you might receive! 😊

Check it out πŸ‘‡

Around 50% of business owners are over-functioning.
And that looks like:
- Taking too much responsibility
- Needing control and certainty
- Big effort levels
- More hiring, but less delegation and letting go

Overfunctioning prevents them from making the shift in IDENTITY to working on the business rather than in the day-to-day trenches.

The stated aspiration is a business with freedom of choice, time to spend present with family and healthy thriving relationships

But the lived reality is their psychology prevents that from being possible, until it's shifted.

Now I've seen many clients make that shift in as little as 1 week.

And the shift has nothing to do with a new strategy, plan, framework, book, course etc.

You've just gotta see how you do the over-functioning first, understand the intention, own your new choices and make it your reality πŸͺ΄

Here's to your freedom πŸ‘

If business has plateaued, it's crucial to examine your perspectives first.

Many business owners, founders, and entrepreneurs have experienced significant shifts by adjusting just 1 to 5 perspectives within themselves.

These perspectives had become habits,

And changing just this can lead to a whole new outlook on their business and its potential...

Values are not what we think?

Over a decade now, I've noticed the further I explore the topic of values with clients, businesses and peers, the more it becomes apparent to me that our values are not really what we think they are.

Tony Robbins believes values are enduring beliefs.

DeMartini believes they are the priorities, actions and behaviors of our lives.

These are cool, useful pointers and both folks have great exercises to take one closer to their truth: who am I? what am I about? what is important?

Yet I've noticed over the years that the gap for so many is their stated and lived values. And I wondered why this might be so....

Turns out values are not stated. They are shown to you by your life.

By your calendar. By your friends and relations. By your health and wealth.

Amongst other things.

And to add, most people have borrowed their values from mum, dad, their boss, their organization, their social groups.

Without questioning is this really mine?

And so when the true exploration begins... the list of true chosen and lived values thins out.

Maybe you could count them on one hand.

This can be confronting but also empowering.

Because nothing of volume is valuable.

If you really want to know your true values, I'm running a workshop with my client group tomorrow.

DM me VALUES and I can share a cheat sheet to help you surface yours.

Cheers, Andrew.

Think about the last personal development book you finished.
Did anything actually change?

Or did you get a little hit of "I understand myself now" β€” and then do the exact same thing the following Tuesday? πŸ˜…

See your mind can take any insight and convert it into identity decoration.

"Now I'm the kind of person who understands boundaries."

Gold star. Same patterns.

Same apologising for things that weren't your fault.

You didn't lack discipline.

You were decorating the room when you needed to walk out the door.

Your body already knows which conversation that is.

Which action to take.

What decision to make.

Just go do that. Have that. Experience that.

And share this with someone who has a bookshelf full of answers and a life full of the same patterns.

Big love, Andrew.

Thanks for all the birthday love! β˜ΊοΈπŸ™πŸ°

For me, life is now about play and rich relationships.

Although Jo is overseas for this one, we sure made the most of it!

"I wasted so much mental energy" ...

One of the best shifts you can make in your life as a leader (even if only for yourself),
is to let go of taking things so personally.

Maria of shares two key insights from her growth journey, that were the difference making the difference!

Thanks Maria!

In the flourishing of a person, I see one huge double-edged sword πŸ’‘

And Maria was able to make a profound shift for herself, leading to beginning a new business and her entrepreneurial journey fully booked in 1 month..
