What happens between therapy sessions matters! 💚

Theratrak Founder and OT Laura Simmons recently joined Jo Muirhead on The Entrepreneurial Clinician podcast for a conversation about clinician-led innovation, digital health, and why the future of therapy needs to support people beyond the clinic. 🎧

In the episode, Laura shares the story behind Theratrak - from seeing families struggle to follow through with home programs, to building a platform that helps therapists send activities, set reminders, track progress and support families in everyday life. 💫

This is a conversation about more than just technology. 👀

Listen to the episode to learn more about:
✅ Increasing access to therapy support
✅ Helping families feel more confident at home
✅ Reducing admin for clinicians
✅ Making home programs easier to follow
✅ Supporting meaningful progress between sessions

Jo and Laura explore what happens when clinicians stop waiting for better systems and start building them. 🚀

250 families on a waitlist. What happened next? 👀

At the beginning of 2022, led by Annie Seccull, Thrive Group @100062965552755 in regional Victoria, AUS identified 250 clients on their therapy waitlist. 🦘

That’s 250 families waiting for support, strategies and guidance while appointment availability was limited. 😅

So Thrive Group contacted Laura Simmons for help and used Theratrak to offer early intervention packages for suitable families while they waited to see a therapist 1-1. 💚

Here’s what happened during the four-month research project: ⚡
📊 50% of waitlisted clients were identified as suitable for early intervention packages
📊 Of those suitable families, 33.6% purchased a package during the study period

And the feedback showed what can happen when families are supported before they reach the top of the waitlist: ⚡

✔️ Families felt more supported - Waitlisted parents had practical strategies to use at home
✔️ More follow-through - Children completed more home therapy activities
✔️ Less admin, more impact - Therapists reported significant time savings
✔️ Happier therapy teams - Clinicians reported greater enjoyment in their work

A waitlist shouldn’t mean no support. 💫

Theratrak helps clinics provide practical activities, education and home programs before, between and beyond therapy sessions - while keeping things easier for already-busy teams. 🚀

NDIS review coming up? 👀

You asked. We listened. We built it. 💚

Theratrak’s new Progress Reporting Tool was created based on feedback from clinicians who wanted reporting to feel less like a last-minute scramble and more like a natural part of therapy workflows. 🎯

Reports are now easier than ever! Phew! 🚀

Here are 4 ways Theratrak makes reporting easier: ⬇️

✅ Link therapy to SMART goals ✅
Connect activities directly to participant goals so progress is easier to review, explain and report on.

✅ Capture evidence as therapy happens ✅
Notes, activity completion, feedback and progress updates can all help build a clearer picture over time.

✅ Track progress as you go ✅
Less “wait, where did I write that?” and more confidence when it’s time to pull everything together.

✅ Save time on reporting ✅
Reduce the time spent piecing together information from different places and make progress easier to show.

Whether you’re preparing for an NDIS review, updating families, or reporting back to a wider care team, Theratrak helps keep goals, progress and evidence more connected. 💡

This product update was a huge win for Theratrak Founder & Occupational Therapist Laura Simmons - she knows how hard report time can be. 🦄

Two teams. One shared goal: making therapy more engaging, practical and connected. 💚

We’re excited to celebrate Theratrak’s partnership with Our Visual Brain, a subscription-based therapy platform supporting visual, cognitive and functional skill development through engaging therapeutic games. 🎮

Used by OTs and Vision Therapists, Our Visual Brain helps clinicians bring structured skill progression into both clinic sessions and home practice - which makes it a natural fit for Theratrak. 🎯

Through this partnership, therapists have even more ways to: 👀
✅ Personalise therapy programs
✅ Keep participants engaged
✅ Support skill development between sessions
✅ Bring fun, purposeful activities into home practice
✅ Track progress beyond face-to-face appointments

Theratrak Founder and OT Laura Simmons and Our Visual Brain Founder and President Jennifer Powell have been collaborating online since 2020, exploring how technology can better support therapy outcomes. So getting both teams together feels like a very exciting full-circle moment. 💫

Innovation in OT deserves a spotlight. 💡

A huge thank you to Occupational Therapy Australia for including Pitch It at for the second year in a row! 🎤

This session is extra special for us. After Theratrak Founder and OT Laura Simmons won the American innovation pitch competition version at AOTA / in 2023, Laura encouraged the OTA to bring a local version to life to see what else Australian OTs were inventing. 🦘

Now in its second year, Pitch It has already had 3x the number of applications compared to its first iteration - which says a lot about the creativity, problem-solving and innovation happening across the OT profession. 🚀

At Theratrak, we believe some of the best ideas in healthcare come from the clinicians who see the gaps every day. 🌞

The OTs asking…

🎯 “What if this process was easier?”
🎯 “What if families had more support?”
🎯 “What if technology actually worked with our workflow?”
🎯 “What if we built something better?”

Congratulations to all the Pitch It participants who stepped up, shared their ideas and presented their first pitches - Chris Pearce - Occupational Therapy Services Group, Nikki Cousins - Action OT / , Bree Avramides, Sarah Smith, Laura Vogelzang and Brad Williams. We can’t wait to see how your innovations evolve, grow and create impact in practice. 💚

Thank you to everyone who came along to support these amazing OTs. Innovation needs ideas - and it needs a community willing to listen, encourage and help those ideas move forward. 🦄

Here’s to more clinician-led innovation, practical technology adoption, and bold ideas that make therapy better for everyone. 🐨

From conference committee planning to watching it all come to life… was a goodie! 🌞

Theratrak Founder and OT Laura Simmons was excited to be part of the Occupational Therapy Australia conference committee again this year, helping support a program full of innovation, practical ideas and future-focused conversations for the OT community. 🚀

And in our latest blog, Laura reflects on what it was like to see the event unfold in Brisbane - from the energy of Pitch It, to conversations at the Theratrak Exhibition hall booth, to the bigger question of how OTs can turn great ideas into everyday practice. ⭐

We also share more about Laura’s research poster: 👀

💡 Practical Digital Transformation: Turning Innovation into Everyday OT Practice 💡

The poster explores a 5-step framework for helping clinics successfully adopt digital tools - not just trial them once, but actually embed them into real clinical workflows. ✅

The future of OT features the adoption of more digital tools - and the shift needs to be practical, human, and built around how therapists really work. 💚

If you want to learn how Theratrak can make a difference in a clinic you know, get in touch! 🎯

Digital transformation often sounds fancy…. 👀

In allied health, it often comes down to one very practical question: ❓

😅 “How do we actually get the team using this?” 😅

At from Occupational Therapy Australia, Theratrak Founder and OT Laura Simmons presented her poster on -

🚀 Practical Digital Transformation: Turning Innovation into Everyday OT Practice 🚀

Laura’s key message? New tech doesn’t fail just because of the tech. 💡

Tech adoption usually fails when:
❌ Teams aren’t clear on why they’re using it
❌ No one owns the rollout
❌ There isn’t time to learn the tool
❌ It doesn’t fit into the clinic workflow
❌ Training stops after the first session

That’s why Laura shared a practical 5-step digital framework to help clinics move from “interesting new tool” to “this is just how we do things now.” 🎯

The Theratrak 5-Step Digital Framework includes:
✅ Setting a clear shared vision
✅ Creating clinical champions & internal testing
✅ Testing with real participants & families for external testing
✅ Building the tool into team’s everyday processes
✅ Continuing training and team check-ins

The poster also shared case examples from both a large Australian therapy organisation and a small private practice in Alaska - showing that successful digital adoption isn’t about clinic size. 💫

Adopting new technology within clinics is all about clarity, process, and making sure technology supports clinicians instead of adding more work. 📲

The future of OT is digital - so it has to be practical, human, and built around real therapy workflows. 💚

We’re still smiling after ! 💚

What an amazing few days connecting with occupational therapists, practice owners, innovators and allied health leaders from across Australia. 🦘

A huge thank you to Occupational Therapy Australia for hosting such a thoughtful and energising conference in Brisbane - and for continuing to create space for important conversations about the future of OT practice. 💡

One of the highlights for us was witnessing Pitch It return for another year. 🚀

Theratrak Founder and OT Laura Simmons has loved supporting this session and championing clinician-led innovation. Some of the best ideas in healthcare come from the people solving real problems every day. 🎯

We also want to say a big thank you to everyone who came by the Theratrak booth! 🙋

Whether you stopped for a quick hello, asked about home programs, explored our reporting tools, chatted waitlists, or took on the 5-minute home program challenge - we loved meeting you. 🦄

Here’s to a future of OT with practical ideas, better systems, and therapy support that keeps going beyond the session. 🐨
