๐Ÿ’œ Yesterday was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day ๐Ÿ’œ

At THEIRS, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and heard at every stage of life.

Sadly, elder abuse often goes unseen and unspoken about, yet it affects far too many older Australians.

This week, we encourage our community to take a moment to check in with the older people in our lives.

๐Ÿ’œ Have a conversation.

๐Ÿ’œ Spend time together.

๐Ÿ’œ Learn the signs of elder abuse.

๐Ÿ’œ Speak up if something doesn't seem right.

Creating safer communities is everyone's responsibility. Together, we can help ensure older people feel connected, supported, and treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Because no one should experience abuse, isolation, or neglect.

MESS FEST ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐ŸซŸ๐ŸŽจ

Life can be messy, but your mental health doesnโ€™t have to be.

Weโ€™re excited to officially begin developing Mess Fest โ€” a huge community event bringing together fun, connection, music, wellbeing, and community in one unforgettable day.

This isnโ€™t your average event. Our aim is to create a space where people can have an incredible time while also discovering the supports, services, and connections available in their community.

๐ŸŒˆ What will Mess Fest look like?
Weโ€™re planning a full-day festival experience featuring:
๐ŸŽก Festival rides and attractions
๐ŸŽถ Live music and a headline band
๐ŸŽค Talent Quest showcasing local performers and young talent
๐Ÿ” Food vendors and local businesses๏ฟฝ๐Ÿƒ The Mess Fest Course โ€“ a fun, messy challenge for participants
๐ŸŽจ Interactive activities and community experiences
๐Ÿ’™ Wellbeing stands and support spaces run by local services and organisations
๐Ÿš‘ Emergency services, sporting clubs, and community groups involved throughout the day
โœจ Plenty of opportunities to connect, learn, participate, and have fun.

Our goal is to create an event that feels exciting, inclusive, and community-driven โ€” a place where people come for the fun but leave knowing where to turn when life gets messy.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Young people, we need your voice!
Mess Fest is being shaped by the community, and we want as many young people as possible involved in the planning.
What would make you want to attend? What activities, music, challenges, rides, food, or experiences do you want to see?
๐Ÿ‘‰ Complete our survey here or link in our bio through link tree!
๐Ÿ”— https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HJMT9F2?utm_source=linktree_profile_share&fbclid=IwRlRTSASbZ7VleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEe2g-u_35IVWDJhwKfUKqVs_CseE_Irh0U2706L0uOVX9GDR0T0LctHNnq_po_aem_hj2rbwrYpvrOW1cGyaq6Xw

Every response helps us build an event that truly reflects what young people want.

๐Ÿค Want to be involved?
We're looking for service providers, community organisations, businesses, food vendors, musicians, performers, sporting clubs, emergency services, volunteers, and community members who want to help bring Mess Fest to life.
Whether you'd like to run a wellbeing stand, host an activity, sponsor part of the event, perform, volunteer, or collaborate in another way, we'd love to hear from you.
๐Ÿ“ง [email protected]
Mess Fest has the potential to become something truly special for our community, and we can't wait to watch this vision come to life.

We are also looking for groups with young people who would like to help volunteer/run or design on the day โœจ

If anyone would like a poster to share around please let me know!!

๐Ÿ’™ Life can be messy, but your mental health doesn't have to be.

๐Ÿšจ We've got TWO exciting announcements coming your way later this week! So stay tuned! โœจ

Our team has been working hard behind the scenes and is more committed than ever to creating fun and engaging content for our amazing community โ€” especially our reels!

Kalani and Fin absolutely sent it. It was raining, 5pm in the afternoon, freezing! ๐Ÿฅถ

We love sharing what we do and connecting with you all, and we can't wait to bring you even more.

Should we have our own TikTok account?

๐Ÿ‘ โค๏ธ Yes โ€” absolutely! Why don't you have one already?

โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿซถ I love seeing your reels on here for now. (It's the closest we could get to the reaction ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Cast your vote below and keep an eye out for our TWO big announcements later this week! ๐Ÿ‘€

Reconciliation shouldn't be confined to one week.

We know that National Reconciliation Week has officially come to an end, but at THEIRS, we believe reconciliation is not something to be reflected on, celebrated, or honoured for just one week each year.
That's why we've chosen to share this message after the fact โ€” deliberately.

Because the conversations, learning, listening, and actions that contribute to reconciliation shouldn't stop when the calendar changes. They should continue every day, in our workplaces, our communities, and our relationships.

We acknowledge the enduring cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and we recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires commitment from all of us.

National Reconciliation Week may be over, but the opportunity to learn, reflect, connect, and act remains.

Let's keep the conversations going.

๐ŸŒˆ Pride Month

Pride Month is a reminder of the importance of visibility, safety, inclusion, and respect for ALL people โ€” in every space, every service, and every community.

We are committed to creating spaces where people can show up as their full selves, feel heard, and feel supported without judgement.

This month and every month, we celebrate diversity, identity, and the strength of community. ๐Ÿค

Happy Pride Month ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

Behind every THEIRS event and safe space is a group of incredible humans giving their time, energy, and care to support others ๐Ÿ’›

Outside of THEIRS, our volunteers are students, workers, creatives, advocates, parents, young leaders, and community members โ€” all balancing their own lives while still showing up for others.
They help create connection, safe spaces, conversations, and real impact across our community every single day.

THEIRS is built by people who genuinely care โ€” and we couldnโ€™t do it without them.

Our volunteers truly are the heart of THEIRS ๐Ÿ’›

HAPPY VOLUNTEER WEEK โœจ๐Ÿค

This week, weโ€™re celebrating the incredible volunteers who are the heart and soul of THEIRS. ๐Ÿ™Œ
Thank you for the time, energy, compassion, and lived experience you bring into everything you do.

Whether youโ€™re supporting our events, welcoming community members, sharing your stories, or helping others feel seen, heard, and supported โ€” your impact reaches further than you probably realise.

Your lived experience, understanding, and genuine care help create safe spaces where people can connect, grow, and know theyโ€™re not alone. ๐Ÿ’ซ

Last week, we were incredibly proud to speak for the first time at the volunteering symposium, where we highlighted just how important young people are in volunteering and community leadership. Young volunteers are not only making a difference right now they are the backbone of the generations to come, bringing fresh ideas, empathy, passion, and real-world experience that helps shape stronger and more connected communities for the future.

Every event, every conversation, and every act of support helps change lives and none of it would be possible without our volunteers. You are the people behind the smiles, the encouragement, the connection, and the community we continue to build together.

From all of us at THEIRS, thank you for showing up for others, for believing in community, and for making such a meaningful difference. We appreciate you today and every day. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿคโœจ
