This journey may be over for me if we choose not to have further children but it’s something I can keep with me for a lifetime to remember my accomplishments of feeding all 3 of my babies for a collective of over 4 years.

Kids change you.

They change your body, your mind, your lifestyle, your social life and all things about you.

Finding yourself as a mother and as the new you is a challenge. A challenge that is harder for some of us than others.

It causes you to rethink your reality and what you truly want and value.

It’s a journey, one that is long and ever changing.

I’m certainly not the mother I thought I would be. All my ideas of what that would like like are long gone.

We need support navigating this new normal, we all do. Who’s your biggest support?

Healing can come in many forms. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It doesn’t mean moving on completely. Doesn’t mean living in a world where pain doesn’t exist.

Healing is working through, living with and living despite the worst. It’s choosing to go on.

The journey and process to healing looks different for everyone. It’s not a standard plan or procedure you can implement.

You will get there, you can do this. We all need a little help sometimes.

Bittersweet. I finished breastfeeding my daughter four weeks ago. After 18 months of feeding her I now have my body back for the first time in five years. I’ve had 3 back to back babies and breastfeeding journeys, and knowing that this time of my life may be over makes me sad.

Just another one of the ups and downs of motherhood 💕

Me and my babies on Mother’s Day!

You know it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. It can be hard work and dedication. It’s the mothers who stay, keep going, keep providing, keep moving forward that need to be acknowledged.

This boy right here made me a mother. He changed my world, my daily life, my routine, and with it all my expectations of what parenthood would look like.

I had all these preconceived ideas about how I would be a mother, and what I would expect from my child. The behaviours I would allow, the type of parent I would be.

He turned all of that on its head. He forced me to see differently, be different, change and adapt. He is still doing that. Testing me, pushing me, altering me into the mother he needs from me.

He’s my eldest son and my most challenging, I was sent him for a reason. To grow and evolve, to develop empathy and understanding. So that I could help other mothers through their journeys because we all need a little help sometimes.

Being a mum can be everything you ever wanted and the hardest thing you’ve ever done all at the same time.

My kids are my world but also my biggest cause of stress. Understanding and learning how to manage these stressors is what defines us and our journey.

Feeling the stress isn’t the problem, it’s how we manage that stress and our response to it.

Letting it consume you or negatively impact your relationship with your kids or partner is detrimental and also so so common.

Mum guilt is real and it can be all consuming. Give yourself grace, a mum that feels mum guilt is a mum who’s trying, and that’s what is most important.

Feel like you need some guidance is this space? Remember we all need a little help sometimes. Reach out and let’s implement some strategies together.

To solve or work through our problems we first need to think about them differently.

Thinking about our problems in the same way we always have will lead ultimately to the same results.

Shifting our thinking, trying something new / different allows for us to experience a change in the options we may come up with and the resolutions we could explore.

Pregnancy…

What a transformative time in a woman’s life. Internal and physical changes that a woman has to overcome to bring her child into the world. Not only do you have to learn how to be a mother, a change that happens so quickly. You also need to adjust and accept the changes within yourself.

The way you look, the way you feel, the way your own needs are met and prioritised will all change. it’s a huge leap, a huge step, that we are expected to adjust into in a matter of minutes. No wonder we struggle, when our entire world and life as we know it has changed in an instant. It will be for-filling, exciting, boring, draining and challenging all at the same time. You will never feel so alive and so alone all at once.

It’s ok to not be ok. It’s ok to reach out and need help or guidance to walk this path you’ve never walked before. Pregnancy what a transformative time, it’s turning you into the mother your destined to be.

Breastfeeding what a journey it is for mums. It can be so wholesome, so traumatic, so draining, so magical all at once and not at all.

Every mothers journey is so different and unique. Sometimes we need guidance and support to keep going or to stop all together.

I’ve been blessed to breastfeed all 3 of my children for over 12 months each. My lifeskills and formal training in the area make me equiped to support mothers through this phase of parenthood no matter what your choices are. We all need a little help sometimes
