💜 **“They seem so different emotionally since the stroke.”**

A stroke doesn't only affect movement or speech. Some people may also experience changes in emotions, behaviour or how easily emotional responses can be controlled.

And there may be several things happening at once — changes in the brain, fatigue, communication difficulties, loss of independence, frustration and the enormous adjustment of life after stroke.

So before assuming someone is **“overreacting,”** it can help to ask:

**“What might they be experiencing?”**

New, persistent or concerning emotional changes should be discussed with their healthcare team.

🔎 **Which shadow is the EXACT match?**

Only ONE is identical to the original teapot.

Look carefully at the **handle, spout, lid, base and overall shape** before choosing:

**A • B • C • D**

Got it? 😄 Drop your **letter only** in the comments — don't tell everyone what gave it away yet!

💜 **BONUS:** Did your family have a “good” teapot, cups or dinner set that only came out when visitors arrived?

⚠️ **Sudden confusion? Don't automatically assume it's dementia.**

Dementia usually develops gradually, while **delirium can appear suddenly — over hours or days** — and attention or alertness may change noticeably.

A person may suddenly seem much more confused, unusually sleepy or restless, have difficulty focusing, or behave very differently from their usual self.

Delirium can have underlying medical causes and needs **prompt medical assessment**.

One useful caregiver question is:

💜 **“Is this normal for them — or is this a sudden change?”**

Knowing someone's usual baseline can matter.

🚿 **“They just refuse to shower.”**

But what if the shower isn't really the problem?

With dementia, bathing may become difficult for many reasons — the room feels cold, the water or noise is frightening, the steps are confusing, privacy feels uncomfortable, or standing and moving may hurt.

Instead of starting with **“How do I make them shower?”**, try asking:

💜 **“What might be making bathing hard today?”**

Sometimes small changes — preparing everything beforehand, keeping the room comfortable, giving one step at a time and protecting privacy — can make the experience easier.

**Behaviour can be communication. Look for the need behind the “no.”**

👃 **Parkinson’s isn’t only about movement.**

A reduced sense of smell can occur in Parkinson’s — sometimes long before the movement symptoms people commonly associate with the condition.

That can affect more than noticing a favourite perfume or the smell of coffee. Smell also contributes to how we experience food and can help us notice things in our environment.

But an important reminder: **losing your sense of smell does NOT mean you have Parkinson’s.** Many other things can cause changes in smell.

It’s another example of why Parkinson’s is much more than tremor. 💜
