At Thrive365, we believe that staying active is about more than just movement. It’s about building confidence, encouraging independence, strengthening social connections, and most importantly, having fun along the way! 🙌

From engaging group activities to everyday adventures, our participants are encouraged to explore their interests, develop new skills, and enjoy meaningful experiences at their own pace.

✨ Every activity is an opportunity to connect, grow, and thrive!

Through our NDIS Community Access and Day Programs across NSW and QLD, we support participants to stay active, engaged, and connected with their communities.

💜 DID YOU GET IT RIGHT? 🤔

The answer is… 🥁 2013! 🎉

That’s right! The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) first launched in Australia on 1 July 2013, starting with trial locations before gradually expanding across the country.

Since then, the NDIS has played an important role in supporting Australians with disability to access services, build independence, and participate in their communities.

💬 Did you get the answer right, or did this surprise you? Let us know in the comments!

Everyone’s talking about the recent changes affecting Community Access… but have you heard about the latest update to Supported Independent Living (SIL)? 👀

On 1 October 2026, the NDIA updated its SIL operational guideline to reflect recent provider registration changes and provide greater clarity around how SIL decisions are made.

Here’s what you need to know 👇

🏠 SIL provider registration

SIL providers must now be registered with the NDIS or have applied for registration. Existing unregistered SIL providers who were delivering SIL before 1 July 2026 needed to apply by 1 October 2026 to continue providing and claiming for SIL supports.

Importantly, the NDIS states that this registration change does not change a participant’s plan or funding.

📋 Clearer SIL decision-making

The updated SIL guideline provides further information about how the NDIA makes SIL decisions and what information it considers.

It also includes updates and clarification around:
• arrangements that are not considered SIL
• criteria for 24-hour individual support
• mandatory registration for SIL providers

💡 What should participants and families do?

If you receive SIL supports, the NDIS recommends checking whether your provider is registered or has applied for registration.

If your provider has registered, you don’t need to do anything. If they haven’t registered or applied, you may need to transition to a registered SIL provider.

And remember: SIL is the support you receive in your home, not the home itself. It can include support with personal care, cooking, cleaning, routines and building skills for greater independence.

Save this post or share it with someone receiving SIL supports. 💜

💜 We are incredibly proud of our Thrive365 team.

And if you’re a support worker watching this, stay with us. It’s a longer video, but there are a few golden nuggets in here if you watch closely. 👀

This is what a person-centred approach can look like in the everyday moments.

Three people. One baking activity. But each person is participating in their own way.

One is mixing. One is preparing the tray. Another is laying out the cupcake cases.

And notice the staff.

They’re not taking over. They’re asking questions, encouraging, acknowledging what each person is doing and giving them the space to participate.

Sometimes good support is knowing when to step in, and when to step back.

Look out for these four principles in the video:

✨ Choice & Control – allowing each person to make decisions and participate their way
✨ Strengths & Abilities – focusing on what someone can do and building from there
✨ Active Participation – supporting people to be involved rather than doing things for them
✨ Little & Often – recognising that small, everyday opportunities can build skills, confidence and independence over time

These moments might look simple, but this is where meaningful support happens. 💜

To our team, keep creating opportunities for the people we support to do, choose, learn and participate.

Heard about the NDIS 50% funding reduction? Here’s what it actually means 💜

From 1 October 2026, funding allocations for Social, Economic and Community Participation supports will be reduced by 50% for new and reassessed plans.

Importantly, this does not mean your entire NDIS plan will be cut in half.

Some supports within these categories are also protected from the reduction, including employment supports, disability-related health supports, high-intensity supports, and intensive and complex behaviour supports.

📅 From 1 October 2026: the changes apply as new plans are created or existing plans are reassessed.

📅 From 1 February 2027: the changes will also begin applying as existing plans are renewed.

If your current plan hasn’t changed yet, you can continue using your existing funding and supports. The NDIA will contact participants before their plan is reassessed or renewed.

Swipe through our simple example to see how the numbers could work. The amounts shown are for illustration only, as every participant’s plan and circumstances are different.

If you have questions about your individual funding, speak with your Support Coordinator or NDIS contact.
