The eyes are often one of the first areas of the face to show visible age-related changes.
There are several reasons for this.
The skin around the eyes is thinner than elsewhere on the face, it moves constantly with facial expression, and it has less structural support than many other facial regions.
In practice, I often see patients who have noticed increasing heaviness of the upper eyelids or changes in the appearance of the eye area over time.
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a procedure designed to address concerns relating to excess upper eyelid skin. For suitable patients, upper eyelid surgery can often be performed under local anaesthetic in the consulting rooms.
Any treatment plan begins with a careful assessment. During consultation, I assess the eyelids in the context of the entire face, including brow position, skin quality, facial proportions and individual anatomy.
My goal is to achieve a result that appears natural and remains in harmony with the rest of the face.
If you have concerns about changes around the eyes, a consultation can help determine whether any treatment options may be appropriate for your circumstances.
All procedures carry risks, which will be discussed in detail during consultation.
