If mum guilt is loud today, sit with this.
What you speak to yourself, you become.
If you wake up and the first thing you say to yourself is “I’m failing,
I’m behind, I’m a bad mum, I did nothing today so I’m lazy” - of course guilt gets louder.
You’re feeding it.
But what if you spoke to yourself the way you speak to your daughter when she is having a hard day?
Your kids won’t remember if the house was perfect.
They’ll remember how you spoke about yourself when you thought no one was listening.
She is learning how to talk to herself by listening to how you talk to you.
Here are the 7 sentences that stopped my spiral today…
Needing space doesn’t make me selfish. It doesn’t mean I love her less. It means I am a human with a nervous system that needs to breathe too.
She won’t remember perfect. She will remember calm. Calm is more powerful than perfect ever was.
Rebuilding looks slow because it IS slow. Brick by brick is still building, even when no one else can see it.
I don’t have to earn it by burning out first. Rest is not the reward for finishing. Rest is how I get to finish.
Your kids won’t remember if the house was perfect.
They’ll remember how you spoke about yourself when you thought no one was listening. And that one is everything.
I don’t have to wait for Monday. I don’t have to wait for January. I can begin again in the middle of the mess.
What I do most of the time matters more than one day.
One quiet day doesn’t erase all the steady days.
So today,
let it be small.
Let it be unfinished.
Let it be enough.
You are not behind.
You are becoming.
Changing one thought at a time is how it all begins.
Love,
EK ♡
