📣Confessions of an Animal Communicator 📣
🐕Do you own or have you ever owned a puppy?🐶🐾
I haven’t lived through the puppy stage since I was in my early teens – and even then, the responsibility fell to my parents.
Around Christmas last year, my soon to be husband and I decided to gift our young children a puppy.
As an ex-vet nurse and an animal communicator, I’ll admit I was cocking in thinking that id have this in the bag – any issues ill just chat to him, reason with him (ha-ha)
Oh boy has Bandit humbled me BIGTIME.
For starters, as a great mentor recently taught me – speaking to animals under the age of 1 is a challenge as they are still learning how they want to communicate with Humans, they are figuring this new life out – communicating telepathically and energetically with humans isn’t high on their learning list.
When we got Bandit, he was enrolled with the best behavioural trainer Jodie from Puppy School & Wellness Classes (Jodie is one hell of a brilliant vet nurse - yes, she taught me everything I knew as a vet nurse)
Jodie warned us all in class of the adolescent’s stage, the stage where most animals are surrender at the pound as their owners can’t manage them.
All their training and good behaviour may go out the window and you will be left wondering where your sweet little puppy has gone.
Again, no way this will happen with Bandit and I (Haha)
WELLLLL Bandit has turned into an uncontrollable teenager – he was once great with recall and coming back when he was called – this past Saturday we were in our garage and Bandit joined us as he has always done, We opened the garage door and Bandit took off, I thought no biggie “Bandit, come on boy” he stopped and looked at us “Bandit here boy” nope Bandit took off down the street ears flopping in the wind as he ran down the middle of the road – we were so lucky that we aren’t on a busy street and the cars that were driving down the street slowed down for him. Eventually he ran back into the garage with a smile on his face after his little adventure like nothing happened, 2 days later he dug up our backyard while we were out and left a big mess, he's chewed through multiple pairs of socks, Ooshies and an attempt at a power cord. He barks at everything, and we hadn’t heard him bark before now and he's grabbing food out of the kids’ hands.
After talking with Jodie, she reminded me of the adolescent stage, and that if we continue with training and set our boundaries, our once sweet obedient little man will return (eventually)
If you are in the trenches with a once sweet puppy turned adolescent – especially if they are a large breed dog – this is your reminder that they will return, keep up with your training or enrol in an adolescent training program and remember if it’s getting to much – call a professional. I highly recommend Jodie 🐶🐾
