Before I understood what hypothalamic amenorrhea was, I thought I was just... tired. Stressed. A little burned out. Normal, right?
Wrong.
My body was running on cortisol and adrenaline, the backup fuel system your body activates when it thinks it's in danger. And when you're constantly in that mode, everything suffers.
Here's what that actually looks like day to day:

đŸ„¶ Always cold — especially hands and feet (your body is rationing heat)
😮 Exhausted even after 8 hours of sleep (your nervous system never fully rests)
đŸȘź Hair loss or thinning (your body deprioritises non-essential functions)
📉 Low or no s*x drive (reproduction feels unsafe to your body)
đŸ˜€ Mood swings, anxiety, irritability (hello, elevated cortisol)
đŸŒ«ïž Brain fog that makes simple decisions feel hard
đŸ˜¶â€đŸŒ«ïž Feeling disconnected from your body or emotions

The cruel irony? Many women with MISSING PERIODS are doing "all the right things": eating clean, training hard, managing stress. But their body is reading the situation differently.

These aren't personality flaws. They're symptoms. And they're telling you something important.

If you relate to more than 3 of these, your next step is getting clear on what to actually do about it. My free ebook — 10 Fundamental Steps to Get Your Period Back — walks you through exactly that.

I was eating salads, training daily, and drinking my greens. I thought I was the picture of health.

My hormones had a different opinion.

Here's what the science actually says: your hypothalamus doesn't care how clean your food is.
It cares about energy availability: the amount of energy left over for basic biological functions after exercise is accounted for.
The term for this is LEA: Low Energy Availability.

When your body doesn't have enough fuel left over after you've trained, it enters a kind of triage mode. Non-essential systems get shut down. And reproduction — from your body's survival perspective — is non-essential.

So it stops ovulation. No ovulation = no period.

This isn't about being "too thin" or eating "unhealthy." I see this in women who:
✅ Eat whole foods exclusively
✅ Exercise moderately
✅ Look completely healthy from the outside

The problem isn't what you eat. It's how much. Your body is doing elaborate math in the background, and if the numbers don't add up to safety, it will protect you by shutting reproduction down.

The fix isn't eating junk. It's eating enough. More carbs. More fats. More rest. More fuel for all the living you're doing.

Ready to go from understanding WHY to knowing exactly WHAT to do?
I wrote the 10 Fundamental Steps to Get Your Period Back — and it's free.

Eat 2,500 calories.
Don’t walk. Don’t train.
Take 10+ supplements.
Infrared sauna, ice bath.
Kinesiologist on Monday, acupuncturist on Wednesday.
All of this
 just to maybe, maybe ovulate.
It’s exhausting
 not just physically, but emotionally.
You start to wonder: Is this really what healing is meant to feel like?
Restrictive. Rigid. Fear-driven.
What if you’re doing everything right
 but it still feels wrong?
I want you to know
it doesn’t have to be this hard.
Your body doesn’t need more pressure.
đŸ€ It needs safety. Trust. Support. A nervous-system-first approach to nourishment and recovery.
If you’re stuck in the cycle of “doing it all” and still not getting your period back , I invite you to join the Restore the Hormones Community.
Inside, we help you rebuild your relationship with food, exercise, and your body, so ovulation happens naturally, from a place of peace.

When you’re not eating enough to match your energy output,
especially if you’re training hard, under chronic stress, or stuck in food rules,
your body shifts into survival mode.
One of the first things it does? It shuts down your reproductive system to conserve energy.
But here’s what many don’t realize:
👉 Missing periods = missing estrogen
👉 Missing estrogen = accelerated bone loss
Estrogen is essential not just for fertility but for bone density, brain function, mood, and heart health. If your periods are MIA for months (or years), your bones are silently weakening.
Even in your 20s and 30s.
This is not just about fertility.
This is about your long-term health span.
The good news? Your body is incredibly smart and resilient. With the right steps—nutritionally, mentally, and physically—you can get your period and fertility back.
I've helped hundreds of women do just that.

You feel tired, wired, overwhelmed

and still deeply wanting food freedom, hormonal balance, energy.
But every time you scroll through your social, you spiral.

You don’t feel so confident, and you start overanalysing your life.
Your brain absorbs it all.
Even the content that makes you feel
🙅 not good enough
🙅 like your body should look different
🙅 like you’re failing recovery
It’s time to go Marie Kondo on your feed.
If it doesn’t support your healing journey—it goes.
Start small:
Unfollow 5 accounts today
Then 5 more tomorrow
And extend it to emails, YouTube, conversations, and anything that adds noise instead of support
You’re not just “cleaning up” your feed.
You’re rewiring your brain and creating space for the version of you that feels:
balanced
at peace with food
💛 free
Now pause and do this one thing:
unfollow ONE account that no longer aligns with your healing. Right now.

“Just follow your intuition.”
That’s what they say

But what if your “intuition” is shaped by fear?

By years of body shame, control, restriction, and trauma?

For women struggling with missing periods, fertility issues, and fear of weight gain —
your “intuition” might not be intuition at all.

It might be the voice of:
đŸ„€ A disordered system saying “don’t eat more”
đŸȘž A survival response screaming “don’t rest, you’re lazy”
🧠 An anxious loop whispering “you’ll lose everything if you let go of control”
🧊 A shutdown body saying “this feels uncomfortable
abort mission” when you try something new

This isn’t your inner wisdom talking.

It’s the voice of a dysregulated nervous system trying to keep you safe in all the wrong ways.

So no — following your “intuition” isn’t always the best idea

Not when the body it lives in has been silenced, punished, ignored.
Real healing begins when you learn to decode your signals:
When you realize that discomfort ≠ danger
That hunger ≠ a lack of willpower
That softness ≠ failure
That gaining weight ≠ losing worth
The women I work with learn to tell the difference between fear and truth
Between trauma-responses and true inner guidance.
And from that place?
Their cycles come back.
Their bodies soften and open.
They reclaim their fertility — their fire — their freedom.

✹ So if your “intuition” is telling you to eat less, work harder, or wait a little longer...
Ask yourself:

Is this wisdom?
Or is this fear wearing a mask?

A missing cycle is not harmless!

Your period is a vital sign of your hormonal, metabolic and bone health. When it disappears, it’s often your body signalling that it doesn’t have enough energy or resources to support both daily function and reproductive health.

This can be associated with symptoms like fatigue, hair loss, poor recovery, disrupted sleep, low mood, and in the longer term, reduced bone density and risk of osteoporosis.

It’s not about blame or perfection — it’s about understanding that the body will always prioritise survival over reproduction when energy is insufficient.
The good news is this is often reversible with the right support and changes to nourishment, training and stress load.
If your cycle has changed or gone missing, it’s worth paying attention. Your period is a vital sign, not an inconvenience. đŸ€

“How did you get your period back?”

Let me tell you

It didn’t come from a quick fix, a perfect meal plan, or doing everything “right.”
It came from slowly changing the way I supported my body and responded to fear, stress, and discomfort.
I started eating even when I felt scared or uncomfortable
especially when my body was telling me it needed more.
I learned that consistency matters more than comfort in the moment.
I challenged fear foods instead of avoiding them, even when my brain told me it wasn’t safe. Over time, food stopped feeling like something to control and became something that supported me.
I slowed down
a lot. Not just with training, but with life. I stopped trying to push through exhaustion and started respecting how much rest my body actually needed.
I journaled regularly to understand my thoughts, fears, and patterns.
And I prioritised sleep and rest (proper sleep, naps, downtime) without guilt.
Getting my period back wasn’t about forcing my body to comply.
It was about creating enough safety, energy, and consistency for my hormones to function again.
And if your cycle is missing right now, it means your body needs support, not more pressure đŸ€

Let’s talk about the real reason your period hasn’t come back.
You know what to do.
You’ve read all the books.
You’re trying to eat more.
You’ve cut back on workouts.
..but only a little.

Because deep down, you’re still terrified of gaining weight.
And I get it.

Your identity has been built around being “fit,” “disciplined,” “healthy.”
Your body has felt like the one thing you could control.

So letting go of that control?

Feels like free-falling.
But here’s the hard truth (with love):

You can’t heal while you’re still trying to stay small.
✹ Here’s what real recovery might require:
Letting Your Body Change
Gaining weight is not failure. It’s a biological sign that your body feels safe again. That’s the goal.

Buying the Bigger Jeans So You Can Breathe Again
Tight clothes ≠ motivation. They’re just a daily trigger for body shame.

Letting Go of “Ideal Weight” Fantasies
Your healthiest, most fertile body might not be the smallest one. But it will be the strongest, calmest, happiest version of you.

Realizing Control Isn’t the Same as Health
Health is freedom. Freedom from food rules. From overthinking every bite. From anxiety around every mirror.

Focusing on What You GAIN, Not Just What You Fear Losing
You gain energy, s*x drive, mood stability, your period, your fertility, your spark.
Weight gain is a side effect of coming back to life.

You’re doing everything right...

✅ Eating “enough”
✅ Have modified your workouts
✅ Controlling every bite, every step, every ounce of effort..yet your period is still missing.

Your energy’s tanked. Your libido is gone. Your body feels like it’s running on fumes.
And deep down, you’re scared.
Scared you’ve done something wrong.
Scared you’ll never get your period (or fertility) back.
Scared this is just how you are now.
Your body isn’t against you, it’s just begging you to listen.

And healing doesn’t start with doing more—it starts with doing things differently.

✹ Here are 5 tiny shifts that make a massive difference:

Prioritize Rest
Rest is not weakness. It’s medicine. Deep sleep and slow days restore your hormones.

Nourish. Always. Mentally and Physically
It’s not about being “perfect.” It’s about giving your body enough to feel safe again.

Slow Down Your Workouts
High intensity is keeping you stuck. Gentle movement calms your nervous system and supports ovulation.

Reduce Stress, Every Damn Day
Because no amount of kale or ashwaganda will override a stressed-out system. Breathe. Journal. Say no.

Be Patient and Kind With Yourself
Healing isn’t linear. But every small win—better sleep, warmer hands, clearer skin—means it’s working.
