Psychology gave me the words. Somatic therapy gave me the way home.

For a long time I thought I had to choose… the mind or the body. The thinking or the feeling. But they were never meant to work apart.

The mind can name what we carry. The body knows how to set it down.

What moves me most now is sharing this with our young ones. Watching them learn early what so many of us found the long way that the body is an ally, not the enemy.

That regulation is a language. And our future generations deserve to grow up fluent in it.

This is the work. Slow, gentle, sacred. Helping the next generation feel safe in their own bodies.

If you’ve been carrying a lot lately, come and breathe with us inside Phoenix Rising.

The body remembers how to come home. We just have to begin. 🤎

Save this. You will come back to it.

There are days when your nervous system needs more than a deep breath. It needs a practice.

Here are six of mine. The ones I return to, the ones I teach inside Phoenix Rising, the ones I give to women when they tell me they can’t switch off.

The reset. The regulator. The release. The vagal tone. The balancer. The homecoming.

Each one takes less than a minute. Each one tells your body the truth your mind has forgotten:

You are safe now.

Save this. Share with the woman who needs to exhale.

Tapas. In yoga philosophy, it means disciplined practice. The fire of transformation.

Not punishment. Not pushing through. Not grinding until you break.

The fire that refines. 🔥

Showing up on the mat day after day, whether I wanted to or not taught me something: that I was trustworthy.

That I could return to myself. That the ritual of showing up was the healing.

This is what Phoenix Rising is built on. Not intensity. Devotion. The quiet, radical act of returning again and again to yourself.

The relaunch is coming. Join the priority list.

Pratyahara.

The withdrawal of the senses. Turning inward.
One of the eight limbs of yoga that most of us never reach because we’re too busy being distracted by the outside world. 🌎

This one changed everything for me.
When i stopped looking outward for the answer, when I focused inward using the physical poses of yoga as a tool, and got quiet… I heard her.

That small, steady voice underneath all the noise.
She had been there the whole time. Waiting. Patient. Certain.

Deep inner listening isn’t passive. It’s one of the bravest things I’ve ever practised.

I remember the moment I truly embodied Pratyahara. I was at Gangotri, the source of the Ganges. In the weeks before, I had practised Panchakarma, the five stages of purifying the mind, body, and spirit.

We journeyed through the Himalayas to Gangotri, where we bathed in the holy waters. Freezing waters. Below zero temperatures.

My yoga teacher, Yashendu, and I were the only ones who dared to go in.

I remember shimmying out onto a bar suspended over the rapids. I couldn’t let go, or I would be swept away. And yet to endure those freezing temperatures, I had no choice but to go inward. To find the deep, calm waters that live within. I was with my breath. I was connected to the deepest parts of myself.

A voice came, not from outside, but from somewhere deep inside me. It said: ‘You will never be here again. Go in.’

And I understood. That was the whole point of being there. When I came out of that water, I felt reborn. My life had just begun again. Within the sacred lands of the Hymalayas. 🙏🏾💫🤍 Forever Grateful.

Asana. The physical postures of yoga were never designed to make us flexible.

They were designed to make us present.

When I moved, really moved, I wasn’t performing, I wasn’t trying to achieving anything….. I felt my body say yes. Finally. A yes I hadn’t heard in years.

Movement is medicine. Movement is memory. Movement is the language my body spoke before I knew words for what I was carrying.

B R E A T H

The ancient yogis built an entire science around the breath. Pranayama. Life force. The regulation of prana through the body.

I used to breathe the way most of us do, shallow, fast, from the chest. Surviving. Not living.

Yoga gave me something I didn’t know I was missing: the breath as a coming home. Slow, deep, intentional. A conversation between my nervous system and my soul.

The breath was the first doorway. It’s still the one I return to every single day.

This is the foundation of everything we do inside Phoenix Rising.
