Travelling overseas these school holidays? Follow these tips to avoid getting sick and don’t forget to plan ahead:
- Research your destination and any health risks: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/
- Speak to your GP or local pharmacists about recommended travel vaccinations and travel-related illness
- Pack your regular medicines. Always carry them in the original packaging with the label. You should get a letter from your doctor or carry the prescription and check in advance that they are allowed at your destination

Did you know that whooping cough is on the rise in NSW? If you have cold/flu-like symptoms with a cough, then you need to be extra careful around newborns and pregnant women.

Babies under 6-months of age are at increased risk of getting really sick if they get whooping cough and may need to be admitted to hospital.

The best protection is to stay clear from newborn babies or pregnant women if you are feeling unwell. You can get a whooping cough combination vaccine that also protects against other diseases such as diphtheria and tetanus, which lasts for 5 years. Speak to your GP about vaccination.

Active Parramatta Van Health Tip 💡

Being more active can improve 🫁🫀 health. Below are some easy tips on how to stay active!

☝️ Choose activities you enjoy. Don’t like running? Try swimming or walking. Don't like going to the gym? Take advantage of our parks including walking tracks & outdoor fitness equipment.
✌️ Get social. Exercising with a friend, family member or even your dog can motivate you to keep going.
👌 Sit less. Take ‘movement’ breaks throughout the day to move around and stretch your body. Take the stairs instead of the lift. Walk to get milk instead of driving to the shop!
